Emily Carver returned to the GB News studios on Easter Monday, fronting a special edition of Britain’s Newsroom alongside Alex Armstrong.
Emily has been on maternity leave for almost a year after she and husband Patrick Christys welcomed their first child, George, back in September 2025.

Emily first teased her comeback on X shortly before going on air, posting a smiley selfie alongside her Britain’s Newsroom co-host.
“Back in the studio this morning! Presenting Britain’s Newsroom with @Alexarmstrong! Join us 9.30am!” Emily captioned the snap.
And soon after, Emily posted an update involving baby George, with the adorable tot showing his support from home.
“Screen time allowed when mummy’s on the telly?” the caption cheekily read.

In the update, baby George can be seen standing up while clinging to his playpen in order to get a good view of his mother on-screen.
Patrick reposted the snap onto his own X page and before long, fans of the GB News couple rushed to share their reactions to the heartwarming update.
“ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. I was going to ask if he watched his Mam on TV,” one X user replied, while a second simply put: “Lovely.” (sic)
“Quality. I hope you are all doing well x,” a third weighed in, before a fourth echoed: “Cute.”

Meanwhile, a fifth said of the tongue-in-cheek caption: “I call that a fair deal.”
Alex offered a warm welcome to Emily as the two kicked Monday’s episode of Britain’s Newsroom off together for the very first time.
“Welcome to Britain’s Newsroom with me, Alex Armstrong, and we’ve got a lovely treat today, we’ve got Emily Carver here!” Alex began.
“We do,” a beaming Emily replied, before Alex explained: “It’s our first time – we did the Saturday Five together back a few years ago – but it’s our actual first time presenting together, how about that?”

“Back in the good old days before I departed for a while!” Emily joked before the two promptly moved on with the day’s latest headlines.
Emily’s latest GB News cameo comes two months after she stepped in to cover for Michael Portillo during one of his February shows.
And baby George was on hand to act as his mum’s biggest cheerleader once again.
Patrick took to X and Instagram to share a sweet update of their young son watching from the GB News green room.
The People’s Channel presenter wrote at the time: “What’s Mum doing on the telly?!”
Once again, fans rushed to share their compliments following the cute social media post.
Emily’s return to GB News also comes just weeks after she and her husband, Patrick, jetted baby George on his first-ever holiday abroad.
The family enjoyed several sun-soaked days in the Maldives, sharing several heartwarming snaps from their time in the luxurious location.
