On the same day that Meghan Markle shared a video clip of her son Prince Archie learning to ski alongside his dad Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex turned up in an unexpected selfie with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and freestyle skier and Olympic gold medalist Eileen Gu.

On April 2, Gu shared a photo of the trio on a ski lift on her Instagram page, captioning the larger carousel “This week!!” In the photo, Harry, Gu, and Trudeau are smiling in ski gear as they enjoy the slopes. It’s unclear exactly where exactly the three were in the upbeat photo.
Per People, Harry and Trudeau are “longtime friends.” When Harry brought his Invictus Games to Canada in 2025, the two men were “seen laughing and chatting together,” according to the outlet, and Trudeau addressed the athletes and their families at the closing ceremony of the Games.

Skiing has been a lifelong hobby for the Duke of Sussex, calling recollections of skiing in Austria with his late mother Princess Diana “wonderful memories” in the pages of his 2023 memoir, Spare. Hannes Schneider, the owner of Hotel Arlberg, where Diana stayed with Harry and Prince William for many years, told People that Diana had “such a presence” when she would visit Austria.
“She was absolutely natural, authentic,” Schneider said. “A very caring person. She really tried to take care of everybody—and at the center of that were her boys. They were the center of her universe. That was the nucleus of everything during those holidays.”

“She was the caring, loving mother that we all loved,” he continued, adding that he and the staff “always tried to create a home away from home” for William and Harry. “Something that was very normal for us was a huge privilege for them—to be treated as normal people,” Schneider said.

Schneider called Harry “the wild one,” recalling a time when the hotel staff built ski jumps in the snow for William and Harry to watch the instructors perform tricks. Harry tried a jump himself, with People reporting that the young royal launched into a somersault that ended in a crash landing. “He went for it,” Schneider remembered. “It was great fun.”
“For them, this was a place where they could simply be kids,” he added.
When posting about Archie learning how to ski last week alongside Harry, Meghan described her 6-year-old son as a “quick learner,” adding that she was “so proud” of him.
