Glorifying smoking and rampantly sexualised music videos, the 2000s really are back

  2. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying MQ doesn’t look like herself here, and I need y’all to understand she is wearing a wig. That’s all it is lmao.

I wonder why we rarely see young male artists doing videos like these. I say ā€œrarelyā€ because I’m guessing there has to be a hypersexualized young male singer who’s almost always in underwear like that’s his thing. And no, I’m not clutching my pearls at all. Just pointing out that if only one group tends to be portrayed a certain way, it’s not empowering.

I love her aesthetics and am not as tired of her ā€œschtick,ā€ as others seem to be but I feel like she’s made the same, or at least very similar, music video several different times now

  5. Fun night with the girls! And we’re aligning our pool shots with eachother’s labias, taking off our thongs, french kissing, groping eachother, and bouncing up and down in sync! šŸ˜šŸ˜ literally never tell me she’s for the girls again

I’m not here to clutch pearls but it is getting boring. Even Britney Spears had a poorly sung ballad from time to time. I mean, if this makes SC happy then she should release 500 overtly sexual videos. Who am I to kill her vibe? She’s allowed to do whatever she pleases. But I’m also allowed to be bored.

Just the straight-up shot of MQ’s boobs in the second-to-last picture??? Why was *that* one of the stills??

I’m so fucking over it. Like, I should not be this jaded at 32 years old. I want to scream into the void that ā€œfor the girlsā€ is just repackaged patriarchal oppression that only reinforces women having to be dependent upon their sexuality and attractiveness to be successful in life. That is not progress.

A significant portion of y’all will roll your eyes and laugh me off as a puritanical bible-thumper. Which in itself is part of the problem. Because we resort to in-fighting and nothing changes. Almost like that’s intentional.

In the last 10 years, since the rise in choice feminism, what have we accomplished as a whole? We’ve lost the autonomy over our bodies in several states. Miscarriage is also now a felony, depending on where you live. At-will divorce is in jeopardy. There’s a complete lack of accountability regarding the Epstein Files. The Manosphere is still prevalent. But we ā€œgetā€ to make sexual content more openly now (which will overwhelmingly be consumed by a male audience), so I guess fuck the rest? We have lost the goddamn plot and it’s thoroughly depressing, so that’s enough reddit for tonight.

  9. Why do they keep showing young people smoking? I hate that it is being forced on us.

I have no idea who Madelyn Cline is. I’ve never heard of her outside of this video. seems like they all had fun though šŸ™‚
