I’ve seen many people say ‘but Bad Bunny has no problem calling out ICE’ but they seem to forget that he’s a US citizen unlike Karol, who was born and raised in Colombia and I guess I wasn’t keeping these type of things in consideration before, most be difficult to basically been told you can’t do or say certain things even though you want it without being threaten.

For me, it just makes white American celebrities that much more cowardly for not speaking out, and that is the difference here – there are real stakes to speaking out for people in her position, not just some fan backlash and like 1/12 of their wealth not growing.

How is this a story? She’s just talking about a conversation with her PR team who are understandably concerned about an unhinged president. She could have said it was her mom and it’d carry the same weight.

  4. People don’t realize that many Latino artists aren’t American citizens, like Bad Bunny, and that many Mexican artists have had their visas revoked for much less

It’s actually crazy how speaking out against what’s wrong and standing up for what’s right is liable to lose sponsors or a career. If they need to silence the people speaking out, shouldn’t that prove their point? Wouldn’t silencing them mean they know what being spoken out about is wrong and that they don’t want to take responsibility for it? Is it really that hard for the people silencing the people speaking out to admit any fault in their actions?

First the came for the immigrants and I didn’t speak up because I am not an immigrant.

Then they came car the celebrities and I didn’t speak up…

This fascist regime is working their way down the list.

she is headlining coachella this year, no? what a bold move for her to make as a colombian, she is standing with the people of dilley and the other concentration camps. she is doing this knowing they could detain her just the same as anyone else.

    thank you karol g.!

and you all should listen to “viajando por el mundo,” it’s on my everyday playlist.

Bad Bunny has the freedom to say whatever he wants to Ice, but Karol G and other Latin celebrities are being intimidated by the government, and even so, American artists haven’t even spoken out in defense of their colleagues in the industry. It’s a disgrace that they turn a blind eye to this situation, or in some way even enjoy it from a place of cynicism.

We’ve let down so many people as a nation. Black and brown people, immigrants, queer people, women.

Yea no I don’t buy it lol. She had plenty of other ways (donation, volunteering, etc) to make her statement but since she’s getting backlash now she wants to come forward? Idk kinda weird

Confused with title because I thought it was Khloe Kardashian. I had to do a double take

That’s why you can’t really shit on who is/isn’t speaking out. One psycho calls ICE on you bc you posted how horrible ICE is and now your aunt is being detained. People are cruel, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s already a thing.

Karol G, calmate. Ya estaba enamorado contigo. No necesitas hacer mas.

No but for real this is amazing! And like another redditor said, this shows the cowardice of the American artists who refuse to speak up.
