You know, she really is one of the few truly self made people in the industry. A career with longevity and diversity, that’s survived breaks and controversies.

At least she really is self-made, unlike when they tried to claim that about Kylie Jenner.

Love Selena, but Forbes is a fake, pay to play publication.

It’s so sad that it always seems like the truly self-made celebrities have usually been through the wringer much worse than those who started with solid support systems. There’s such a high price to success and how the world takes advantage of people who become stars truly from just talent for them to reach that success.
I’m thinking of her, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Bynes, Demi Lovato, Amy Winehouse, etc. But then again, Beyoncé or Keke Palmer have not spiraled, for example, but Drew Barrymore or Paris Hilton had issues even with nepotism so I wonder if it comes down to the type of emotional family support or dysfunction that types of stage parents might offer.

i’m the first person to call out extreme wealth hoarding, and i’ll do it with selena, too. i hate it.
at the same time, her resilience and adaptability are really remarkable to me. life hasn’t been gentle with her. i’m happy for the success of her career, and i’m so glad to see she looks happy and peaceful these days.

my cousin was on a forbes 30 under 30 list (country, not global) a few years ago and the poor guy never lived it down
it wasn’t for money, he is def not rich, but like a young entrepreneur thing
(and yes he inherited the company from his dad)(tbf the company was in debt and under litigation due to his dad, he really turned it around)
