Angelina Jolie Clone Theory- Here’s What Really Happened !!
Angelina Jolie made a rare appearance and the internet instantly did what it always does: botched surgery, body double, clone theory, full-blown social media theater.
In this video, I break down what I actually see, what I think happened, and why this is a classic example of it.
I also get into the “concertina effect” of facial aging, why the lower face can suddenly read longer, flatter, sharper, and less familiar, and why one viral clip is not enough to diagnose surgery, replacement, or anything else. If you’ve ever looked at a celebrity photo and thought “what happened?” this video explains why your eyes may be telling you one story while anatomy, styling, and expectation are telling another.
What do you think happened here?

Concertina effect / “accordion” compression over a changing bony platform
Pessa JE, 1999. The classic paper describes an accordion-like or “concertina” effect in which facial soft tissue can appear compressed or restricted over a relatively deficient bony platform. That is very close to the way you’re using the term in the script.
Facial skeleton remodeling with age
Mendelson and Wong, 2012. This review explains that key parts of the facial skeleton resorb with age, especially around the orbit, maxilla, and mandible, which changes the support under the soft tissue envelope and contributes to the aged facial look.
Facial aging happens “from the inside out”
Swift et al., 2020. This review describes facial aging as a layered process involving bone, muscle, fat, and skin rather than just “loose skin,” which supports your point that people often misread structural change as something sudden or artificial.
Fat compartments glide and the face can flatten and elongate
Eid et al., 2023. This paper describes inferior gliding of superficial facial fat compartments during aging, contributing to flattening and elongation of the face plus folds and grooves. That supports your point about the face reading longer, flatter, and less familiar.
Massive weight loss can accelerate facial aging appearance
Jafar et al., 2024. This study reported that massive weight loss was associated with accelerated facial aging changes, including fat devolumization and increased skin laxity. Useful if you want to mention how quickly structure can change under the wrong visual conditions.
Bell’s palsy context
In a 2017 Vanity Fair interview, Angelina Jolie said she developed Bell’s palsy and recovered. That supports your point that people should be very careful making hard claims from one blink pattern, one lid position, or one random clip.
Coverage highlighting the blonde hair + red lip + pale look
Recent fashion coverage specifically noted her cool-toned blonde shift, bold red lip, and white satin/ivory styling at the Shanghai Tom Ford event. That directly supports your contrast-and-styling argument.

These people use other people’s insecurities to make money. We’re going to age regardless and skincare don’t do anything! Eat right exercise and get the morning sun and live happy. Eventually we’ll all age! 😒
no smiling bells palsy returned i think
My theory is 1. She wants to forget her painful past so she decided to go blonde even when it doesn't suit her and also she most probably has many grey hair at this point so blonde was an easier option and it also softens facial features 2. She is 50 ………. no one can hide aging at this point… she still looks great at her age.
People need to stop criticising other people’s looks and just worry about themselves! Such weird depressing times. Glad I don’t have children.
Thanks for explaining, but I find it depressing that people can't work this out on their own. 🙄.
She had Bell’s Palsy years ago and had to have some corrective procedures. Bless her.
She looks great, leave her alone.
She looks absolutely beautiful. What really is going on is that when she appears people feel 10% of themselves and react poorly reflecting their own low value. She’s is so beautiful, does not really need defending and these silly comments are nothing but jealousy. She and I are the same age. When I walk into a room other women usually react uncomfortably. It has nothing to do with my age. And everything to do with that I am beautiful & kind. They can’t tear us down. But people will try their best, won’t they.
Thanks appreciate the explanation from Delaware
I bet the majority of you wish you looked like her. Why all the criticism?
She has a square face. Possibly had Botox for TMJ, now has stopped it. Jowls drop and face looks even more square.
So essentially her new hair color did her no favors, and that lipstick just made her look even more pale and sickly than normal.
Her eyebrows are different
Oh Dr Raj, this is a cool one !!! I totally get what you're saying, and how fun !!! She looks great no matter what, but your explanation is everything !!
So, she was in China and I suspect she has a Chinese makeup artist. The way her makeup was done is more in the Asian-style: very pale foundation; red lip, lighter eye makeup then her usual with emphasis on the eyeliner at the outer edge and mascara/fake lashes (which weren’t there). And as you mentioned, the white top wasn’t her color
She looks high
Plus she is old. Surgery and filters can only do so much
They all getting something than to look different😂
Think it's the blonde hair . I like a darker shade on her – just my opinion
Her jawline looks like an entirely different face – the newer pics are a lifted jawline and a more square face, not a droopy face.
She looks great for her age.We all age! As far as Jim Carrey, he is flying around with the angels. We all know that, they're just presenting a body double because they don't want to answer questions, that wonderful hollywierd!
As a makeup artist, I approve this message! 😊
Welcome to managing expectations of my clients when they show me inspo photos from social media and more. Love your channel, Doctor! Hugs from Dallas!
I liked is when Angelina had her hair darker. She does look washed out in these photos.
Yes, Angelina Jolie is a natural blonde.
While she has spent the vast majority of her award-winning acting career sporting various shades of dark brown and black hair, she was born with naturally light locks.
Why She Became a Famous Brunette
Jolie has discussed her natural hair color in past interviews, explaining that the transition to dark hair actually started when she was a young child:

A Mother's Decision: Jolie noted that her natural hair color is dark blonde. However, when she was only 4 or 5 years old, her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, dyed her hair dark brown.
Sticking With the Look: Her mother liked the dark look and decided to keep it that way. Jolie simply stuck with the routine into her adult life and career
Red lipstick is horrible especially in pasty white people and washed out blondish hair. Total wash out flat. She is beautiful this was a styling super fail.
I absolutely agree!… That look does not suit her well.
Wow! The edit you did was a huge improvement!! I often forget how important it is myself to find the right colors to compliment my skin/features. Some if the theories were definitely pretty ridiculous lol
She’s aging too as everyone 😂
I guess we’re going to ignore what looks like a bruised colore neck under th chin area
