      I seem to recall a whole lot of people whining over the last year that Trump had “totally already consolidated authoritarian power” because he controls the legislature and his allies are buying up the media, “just like Orban.” Well guess what? Viktor couldn’t make that stick, and there’s a LOT of reasons to think Trump’s authoritarianism will be way less durable than Orban’s.

      as a hungarian – one of the best nights of my life. in 2010 I was 19 years old, no real perspective for a better future, spent 16 years in this system, soft-regime. now I’m 35, cried twice this evening, because our plan with my fiance was to flee the country in the worst case scenario. I do not have to leave my home, my country, there is hope. I’ve never felt more hungarian and I’m so proud of each and every person who voted today. there is power within us.

      I’m just crying from happiness, we were so hopeful but couldn’t have imagined such a huge win. this will change so much for us in Hungary.
