Queen Elizabeth II will always be beloved. The late monarch, who sat on the British throne for 70 years—longer than any other ruler in United Kingdom history—passed away in September 2022, at the age of 96. And this April 21, to mark what would have been her 100th birthday, her family members will honor her memory with a series of celebrations.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the festivities will begin on Monday, April 20, when King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit the new Royal Collection Trust exhibit, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, at the King’s Gallery located in the Buckingham Palace grounds. The display, opens today, April 10, and is the largest-ever exhibit of the late queen’s fashion.

The king and queen consort shared a peek at the exhibition on X (formerly Twitter) today.

On the late queen’s actual birthday, April 21, the royals will meet to go over design ideas for The Queen Elizabeth Memorial at the British Museum. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other members of the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee will also attend. The group will see a scale model of the memorial and meet the artists producing the works. The models will then be set up on display for visitors to see.

Also on that day, Princess Anne will remember her mother by celebrating the opening of The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in London’s Regent’s Park. It will officially open to the public on April 27.

The day is set to conclude with a reception at Buckingham Palace to commemorate the centenary of the late queen’s birth and reflect on her extraordinary life and legacy.

To honor her, the royal family has invited representatives from several of the late monarch’s hundreds of patronages to join them at the palace. There will also be some special guests who will ring in their own 100th birthdays at the event.

Birthday cake will be served.
