Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been met with a warm welcome in Australia when they touched down on Tuesday for a joint trip filled with “private, business and philanthropic engagements”. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are Down Under without their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but where will they be staying for their four-day trip?
During their 2018 royal tour, the Sussexes stayed at Admiralty House, the Australian Governor General’s official home in Sydney, but given the fact that this trip isn’t tied to British royalty, the same residence may not be on offer. Because it is a private trip, it is likely that Harry and Meghan’s team has organised the accommodation arrangements and the details will remain under wraps for security purposes, but here’s where they could be living temporarily…

The trip began in Melbourne, but stops in Canberra and Sydney are also planned for the couple. Given the distance between these locations, it is believed that they will stay at an accommodation in each location.
A luxury hotel?

Prince Harry has been known to stay in a hotel in London for High Court appearances. Hotels in major cities are used to VIP guests, and the staff will work alongside private security to orchestrate a seamless, under-the-radar stay. Celebrities and royalty will also be offered private entrances to ensure they can remain incognito.

Staying with friends?
It is believed the Duke has friends in Australia, whom he will aim to meet while he is in town, so there’s a chance that one of them could allow him to stay over. After all, the couple accepted a stay in Tyler Perry’s mansion when they required a base in the US back in 2020.

Soho House?
Harry and Meghan have long had a connection with the Soho House chain, as it was the location of their first secret date in London. At some point this year, Soho House Sydney will open, but an official opening date has not yet been set. So perhaps that will be a venue for any future visits.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagements so far
Their first official stop was Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital, where crowds greeted them as they met with patients and their families. It would have been a special moment for Harry, particularly as his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, first opened the hospital’s new site back in 1963.
The next stop for Meghan on a solo venture was a women’s homeless shelter run by McAuley Community Services for Women.

The pair reunited to go to the Australian National Veterans Art Museum together, where they even got stuck into a pottery lesson.
In a statement, the Office of Harry and Meghan said: “Across all engagements, the visit will highlight the duke and duchess’s continued commitment to supporting mental health, strengthening support for the armed forces community, and championing the power of connection and shared experience to drive positive change.”

The last time the couple were in Australia was in 2018 for an official royal tour, where Harry gave a speech at the Invictus Games Opening Ceremony at the Sydney Opera House and spent time on Cockatoo Island for the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge. They also attended the official opening of the ANZAC Memorial in Sydney’s Hyde Park, paying tribute to the thousands of Australians killed in battle throughout the last century.
