So agree!!!
They don’t need smartphones. If they need need one, or you want them to have one, get them a regular dumb phone. Simple
There were no phones when I grew up. We managed just fine. These kids today are such dummies. Parents can track where you are. No saying you are at someone's house then sneak out to see your boyfriend. My first phone was a bag phone. I think I was like 35.
I got my 2 youngest phones when they were 12 (they are 22 & 23 now). Metro PCS, 4 lines, 4 phones, $100. $35/mo. My husband and I got our first phones then too. Lololol. A very small Android. Samsung, I believe.
I adore them both 👏
I lost my flip phone while shoveling snow. Unfortunately, the snow plow had destroyed it by the time I found it.
I didn’t get a phone until after college. I graduated in 2011 so it’s not like they didn’t exist. And when I did get a phone it was one of those slider ones and not a smart phone. I truly don’t think smart phones are doing kids any favors and if contact is what parents need, get them an old fashioned flip phone or something.
I concur!
Yess because whenever I go to the park with my son .. there are always teenagers there who leave their phones on the ground all over the park lol 😅
I feel this but I’m also really tired of super wealthy people telling us about our kids and phones. Whether your kids are little bitty and you need a break amid give them a phone or they are tad older and are in school (shootings) they start having sleepover: (call for creeps), involved in any after school activities when you have multiple children and you want to know where your kid is. This is all easier with night Nannie’s, Tudors, drivers you know, etc. so every day mamas, we don’t have to try and keep up with celebrities. We love when they are relatable and in so many ways they are, but this isn’t one of them so don’t feel bad regular smegular mamas
I lied and said I picked up my Nokia with wet hands after fishing it out of a toilet. Turns out… there was a water damage sticker inside the phone. It changed colors, indicating it was submerged. Caught wet red handed. Narc AT&T employee tho.
I love Elizabeth Banks !!!!!!!! I think she's great
YES!!!! 💯
you can get smart phones for $50-100 bucks. the tech is there and available let them learn to use it properly. get them prepaid minutes without data plan. schools shut down wi-fi access during class hours and stop teaching all the lessons on ipads. this is coming from someone who had a big brick motorola in the very early 90's
Absolutely not.Let them be kids and play!My kids did.But my grandkids? Are ALL using devices by age 3 and I do not approve. We physically play when we hang out.
GenX here. I was 27 when I got my first phone. 😂😂
I have done the same thing, as an adult. Primos Hoagies toilet, 1995(Market St., philly) , the zoo, Philadelphia. North Hollywood Sharkeys 2005, should I go on? 😮😂🎉
1700 Dollar devices There`s a solution. If your kids get ol enough for phones, don`t buy IPhones. They`re just shitty expensive.
I was trying to train a new employee. She couldn’t follow a train of thought. She was constantly looking at her phone. She wasn’t touching it. She couldn’t stop looking at it. To be good at a job you need to be able to focus. To be in a successful relationship you need to engage with them in person in a real way. You miss most of a conversation when you can’t look into someone’s eyes and see their expressions and gestures. If I say this to people they say, you sound like my grandmother.
Trueee, like I got my first phone when I was 16 cause I had to go to coaching after school and I returned at night, otherwise there was no conversation ever of me and my sister having a phone, probably would have got for college, and that too was a second hand phone, that was on ventilator and got a new one at 17. And I missed out on nothing, still not on any social media🤷🏻♀️
The thing we did with our kids, you lose or break the phone, you get the cheapest ebay one we can still add to our plan, at one point its was a 99 cent phone, lessons were learned
At the end of the year at our high school the lost and found is full of lulu lemon clothes, apple air pods, Stanley cups and brand new tennis shoes (Hoka) crazy no parent came looking.
