Spy Thrills & Crab Linguine Skills with Gemma Arterton | Dish Podcast | Waitrose

    Claggy crab linguine? Case cracked.

This week, BAFTA and Olivier-nominated actor and producer Gemma Arterton joins us, fresh from ITV’s Secret Service. Trading the spotlight for spy craft, she plays an MI6 officer leading the Russia desk in a thriller full of secrets. After a surprisingly solid spy quiz, it’s clear… Nick and Angela won’t be getting recruited anytime soon.

Secrets on the menu call for two of Gemma’s favourites: something minerally in a glass and Irish soda bread. We start with a crisp Vermentino alongside Angela’s homemade loaf. But the real mystery? Claggy crab linguine. Enter Angela, cracking the case with her crab, caramelised fennel & red chilli linguine, topped with pangrattato for crunch—light, bright, and clag-free. (Gluten-free pasta for Nick, no pangrattato.)

Between dreams of the Amalfi coast and the harsh truth about countryside takeaways (sushi struggles), Gemma shares her love of home comforts from her mum’s potato pies to her own baking, including a standout lemon meringue. To finish: a silky lemon posset with crumbly shortbread and plenty of smiles.

A proper three-course feast, a few secrets, and no one leaving hungry – hard to beat!

    1. While watching Angela cooking the pasta, I was initially thinking that each serving was done separately. Then I realized, she made a GF dish for Nick! That is so special and beautiful!❤❤❤

      (Edit for typos)

    2. Crab linguine is one of my favourites to order when we eat out. Id love to make this at home, but is there anything I could replace the fennel with? That’s one of the ingredients up there with coriander that my family just can’t do! 😂

    3. Jersey potatoes used to be grown with seaweed fertiliser and I remember that taste so well. The best potatoes ever. I don’t know what they do now because they are nothing like they used to be. I don’t bother paying the premium price for them. But finally, Amalfi lemons…it might be worth a 30mile round trip to Waitrose just to buy those.

Always a great watch, whoever is on. Loved this one. Lovely Gemma Arterton and a trip to the fishmongers this weekend. Looking forward to the spy series.
