I’m on my fourth listen and the song is catchy afff, I feel like they created this to get stuck in everyone’s heads. “the most alive I’ve ever been, but kiss me and I might drop dead” is adorable.
I wish she’d done a second writing pass on the bridge is my only criticism, it’s the weakest part to me.
I was hit with nostalgia watching this and realized why after a second watch: The cinematography makes the video look like the super low budget New Wave videos that were prominent during the first days of MTV, where the artists were just in random settings that made no sense. The song itself has a vague early 80s New Wave tinge/feel to it.
The fact that I remember those old MTV videos obviously puts me way older than her demographic but I like her music anyway, and I’m not sorry for it. Especially not when she’s making her videos look like, and her music sound like, that which the GenX parents of her fan base would remember well. 🤷♀️
