The cool part is Ray Charles got to work with Jamie foxx on this movie. He also sang for it. Got to perform again just before he died. He died before the movie was released. RIP his music is awesome

The hardest part of raising children is wanted to protect them from everything but knowing you can’t, one day you’re going to die, and they’re going to have to learn on their own with you or without you, it takes a really strong parent to be able to let a child learn, and when they see the world in a way you can’t imagine it’s even harder, this movie is beautiful

My great grandmother worked at the Florida Deaf and Blind school when Ray went there. She knew him well and has class pictures with him next to her. She said he was the smartest and most polite kid that went there.

That’s lame. Teaching them not to feel their emotions won’t make them disappear. Just makes it bottle up until they explode and hurt someone or themselves.

this was a heartbreaking part of the movie but really good to see
God damn, could you realize how scary it is for a child to go blind. Like you really don't know what's going on and so much is taken away from you.
Sometimes the best love is tough love. If as a parent you keep doing everything to make life easy, covering every "pot hole" , the child will never learn to persist or stand strong and overcome when faced with adversity.
