Avengers: Doomsday is fast approaching, and it was recently teased that Avengers: Endgame will be getting a big screen re-release with some extra scenes, and that the ending of that film will lead right into the upcoming team-up movie.

That has led to plenty of speculation about what the new scenes might be, and one fan theory that has picked up some traction at places like GamesRadar+ has put two and two together and thinks that Endgame’s ending moments will be tinkered with to create new meaning.

The post, from an X (formerly Twitter) user, reads: “Said it before, saying it again, they’re retroactively going to turn the metal clanking sounds from the making of the Mark 1 suit at the end of Endgame into the forging of Doom’s mask.”

For those who don’t remember, the final shot of Endgame is Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter dancing before cutting to credits.

There isn’t a post-credits scene, but as the final logo and text card play out, the metal clanking sounds from the very first Iron Man are played out over the top.

With Endgame being such a tightly-packed film, and the comments about when Doomsday begins, it does seem plausible that an actual ending scene could be added on after the credits.

And if that fan theory is true, we might see Robert Downey Jr’s new character Doctor Doom forging his mask, with the same sound effects from Iron Man creating a dark inverse of his previous role.

Avengers: Endgame was previously re-released with some additional scenes after the credits, in a (failed) attempt to dethrone Avatar as the biggest film of all time.

However, fans were ‘treated’ to some deleted scenes featuring incomplete CGI renders of the Hulk, a teaser for Spider-Man: Far From Home, and a genuinely touching tribute to Stan Lee.

All four Avengers movies are streaming on Disney+. Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December.
