The idea that a celebrity can't even go to a bookstore without feeling watched is unfortunate, and ruins any chances of respectful fans having meaningful interactions with people like Tyler.

  1. it reminds me when they caught timmy and kylie in mexico i believe and they saw him buy her a bikini. i thought it was extremely invasive, then when harry was caught walking around on a random street in japan with his friend. like?????

  2. Out in public nobody has any expectation of privacy. Anyone can catch you on a phone or a go pro or security camera and you just need to deal with it. It sucks that maybe you can’t get a beer at the bodega but you also wanted the money and fame that makes you infamous.

  3. i think we should gatekeep fandom because no way is this person actually a fan of this guy trying to farm him for content.

I love Tyler. I’ve been saying this not only about celebrities, but regular people too. Especially when it’s people being unapologetically themselves.

It’s part of the reason why I logged out of most of my socials (except Reddit, but it’s definitely coming up soon, and Tumblr).

Just want to take a moment to comment on how Tyler has reacted waaaay “worse” to celebridom than Chappell and has gotten way less flack for it because of his “brand.” But imo they’re both right and should both say it.

Yeah no offense but it’s not just celebrities, people post video footage of other people all the fucking time to this very platform. You could easily be up on the internet in some video and you’d have no idea probably. This is also what I hate about cars having cameras like teslas. You walk down a street and you’re being recorded by someone’s car from multiple angles. And if it’s not the car it’s their doorbell. All this to say, he’s right, but it’s not just celebs this is a problem for. The encroachment of surveillance into our lives is deeply disturbing.

  7. The camera system screen grab is the most unhinged thing. It would be different if they had posted a selfie of themselves with him. But this makes it seem like he did something malicious.

Absolutely!!! Do we know the bookstore yet? Wonder what they’re saying

  9. And what’s frustrating is the younger generations do not think this is weird or invasive to do, so even when you express disapproval like this, they act like you’re overreacting or rude. There is just a lack of respect of boundaries, on top of them being very comfortable with being very public about their own lives.

The irony of people obsessed with celeb gossip chiming in here on how much they agree with him, hahah.

Literally the price of fame. Can’t have a moment to himself. People are so weird and para social.

  12. If celebs dont like it they are free to get a 9-5 like the rest of us – oh wait, they wont because dealing with having your picture taken is nothing compared to what most of us have to do every day! Sometimes have to interact with the people going to your $500 concert and buying your $70 t shirt. Tired of the rich and famous whining over this and the weird bootlickers who eat it up

It’s interesting when Tyler says this stuff a lot of the time he’s applauded, but Chappell Roan says this and she gets a reputation for “hating her fans”

  14. I hope the bookstore owners saw this and felt some shame. Really disgusting thing to do to someone you supposedly respect and like. I’d feel so violated and betrayed.

  15. It’s ridiculous how much people need to document everything like this and then post it for some form of validation.

Parents raise your kids off the MF internet until they’re adults and can get it on their own.

Celebs love to wax poetic like this, but they are the ones responsible for feeding the parasitic machine that is sucking the money and data from all of their fans.

Without the Internet the world would heal, and it would also mean that way more than half of famous celebrities would have to remain unknown or become unknown/forgotten.

Everyone should read a book called “The Circle”

You will hate it. Not the book, but the feeling you get from it.

And with the rise in popularity of wearable tech (like Meta AI glasses) this is only going to get worse.

There are content creators out there where their whole thing is secretly recording their conversations with strangers on the street or in a cafe or doing a favor for a stranger. And then, without permission or knowledge of the other party, they post it online as content. It’s so creepy.

  19. And this type of stuff may lead to Tyler becoming more reserved, and less willing to engage in conversation with people like he did here, and people would shit on him for that too
