Queen Elizabeth IIRoyal commentator Kinsey Schofield has accused Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of exploiting a children’s hospital in an attempt to “salvage” their public image.
The pair arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday, April 14, and went directly to Royal Children’s Hospital, where they were photographed with patients and interacted with the young people there. Speaking on TalkTV with Kevin O’Sullivan, Schofield argued the duo specifically selected that hospital due to its connection with the late Queen Elizabeth II, claiming there is something “very sinister” about their behavior.
She fumed: “These two are not working royals and yet they pursued an appearance at a venue that has history with Queen Elizabeth II,” reports Daily Express UK.
“That was intentional, that royal hospital. I think there is something very sinister about using dying children and the homeless as props to try to salvage what’s left of your brand,” she added.
Schofield continued: “It’s truly vile and shame on some of these organizations that said, ‘Sure. Come disrupt our space and our patients for their photo op.’ We didn’t see a prince and princess today, we saw two people desperately clawing their way out of the unemployment line.”
She alleged Meghan orchestrated the hospital visit, implying vulnerable individuals were being exploited to enhance her reputation.
The royal commentator continued: “What we have here is a pretty skilled PR person who is choreographing these rows of ill children and these people that are willing to say something nice to Meghan in front of the camera as she’s dripping in gold while serving the homeless frittata.”
“Let them eat cake. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and I am so repulsed by the media that is pandering to it.”
O’Sullivan contended that royal tours are well-trodden ground for Harry, but raised doubts over why Meghan, a former actress, would be making visits to sick children.
Kinsey fired back: “I think we have to give more credibility to the British Royal Family because I see Harry and Meghan, Meghan specifically, trying to hijack Prince William’s legacy with the homeless initiative.”
“This is a man that’s created multiple venues to try and literally house the homeless and there’s Meghan serving a frittata as if she’s Mother Theresa.”
She pressed on: “It’s all Harry knows and at some point, this was inevitable that he was going to fall back on it, but for Meghan Markle, she’s just desperate for positive headlines.”
