Amazon MGM studios have shared a disappointing casting update, which urges fans to have patience while they find the next actor fit for the James Bond crown.

Speaking at the US tradeshow, CinemaCon, on April 15th, the studio reinforced their cautious approach to casting the new titular character.

Amazon MGM’s head of film, Courtenay Valenti, shared as per The Guardian, “I know you’re all wondering when we’re going to announce who’s playing James Bond.”

Valenti warned, “Don’t get too excited. Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect.”

She added, “It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

Amazon MGM studios are facing much pressure to get the decision right after it purchased the series rights as part of an $8.45bn (£6.9bn) deal in 2022.

Valenti reassured fans of the franchise that something good will come: “What I can tell you is this: when you pair one of the most beloved franchises in history with a world-class film-making team, including the brilliant director Denis Villeneuve, extraordinary producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe and screenwriter Steven Knight, you’re setting the stage for something that’s truly worthy of the Bond legacy.”

She finished, “That film is coming, and when the time is right, we’ll have much more to share.”

So far, key actors who have been in talks to land the iconic role have included Wuthering Heights actor Jacob Elordi, Eternity actor Callum Turner, and Nosferatu actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Hamnet actor Jessie Buckley has placed her bets on Turner, after she was asked on a red carpet who she thinks is most suited for the role. “I think Callum Turner would be pretty great,” she shared.
