True investigations take time. Good work DOES still exist in every vocation out there.

See? Life is more like “BOSCH” than “Law & Order.” Results take time. These are good results, too.

I’m so glad they took their time to do their job the best way possible to ensure that rotten man is locked up forever

This is a capital murder case. If he is convicted, David Anthony Burke (he is no longer an artist) will either be in jail for the rest of his life, or be given the death penalty (still on the books in california, though currently California is no longer executing its death row population). It has to be dealt with the utmost seriousness. May that poor girl’s soul rest in peace, and may Burke answer for the crimes he is alleged to have commited.

All the people that wanted an instant arrest have clearly never watched 20/20.

I’m genuinely so hot about this fucking case. He was BRAGGING ABOUT IT!!! To the whole fucking world! Made a whole fucking music video where he puts a body in a trunk. Whatever punishment they give him will never feel like enough

people think CSI and Law and Order timelines are accurate. this was acutally a fairly quick arrest given the state of her remains and how long was required to even determine her manner of death as a result. arrest early and you give him an out in court even if you arrest again later because you look wishy washy – didn’t have the evidence to keep him the first time, what proof do you have you have that evidence *now.*

There are a contingent of “true crime” fans that think crimes can be solved by social media and thus get irritated when the police do actual police work

First degree has a huge burden of proof and they obviously have everything they need now. Better to put him away for forever.

Poor baby, my heart truly breaks for her. What a horrible man, hope he rots.

Kudos to them. I remember when LAPD said there was “no evidence of foul play”. With a decomposed, dismembered child found in the trunk of a car. I remember the thinking these guys are clowns, but now I see they were playing the long game. Sometimes you have to get your no1 suspect comfortable so you can really catch them out.Â
I can’t imagine having a job where you have to physically obtain and manage someone’s rotting corpse. It feels like it should be a traumatic experience every time.Â

the amount of ppl complaining about how long the investigation took was making me lose my mind. investigations take time! going through digital evidence takes time! figuring out last whereabouts takes time! doing autopsies (which the coroner’s office mentioned they were having a hard time doing bc of how decomposed her body was) takes time! plus with how big of a case this is, they definitely were getting false tips that they still had to investigate. a hard truth is that just because her body was found in his trunk, that doesn’t automatically mean he killed her. it is obviously absolutely extremely uber very very very suspicious but they still have to find evidence of him killing her, which takes time. proving a murder charge is very different from a tampering with a dead body charge.
i absolutely feel sorry for her and her family. i hope he rots. the only way she can get some semblance of justice is by waiting for the justice system to work, which unfortunately takes time. if you are interested in really diving into the legal aspects case, i highly recommend the youtuber/lawyer emily d. baker. her coverage is top tier.

I rather law enforcement takes time to build a solid case than rush and someone like this pos gets off on a technicality. I hope this arrest (and hopefully a conviction) helps her family start healing.

The comments I’ve seen on YouTube & other subs are full of Tik Tok brained people so seeing this comment section is refreshing.

It feels like a million years since I watched somebody in a position of importance/ power speak in such a professional, no nonsense way. I can’t understate how refreshing that was, and how much confidence it gives in this man and his colleagues.
Everything seems like an absolute clown show these days in comparison (and even so without being compared to anything)z

Does he have to surrender his passport? What would stop the suspect from flying to another state and hiding?
Yea it takes time to build a case. In 3rd world countries the police can bungle the investigation or are under immense pressure to get the job done. Sometimes they would do illegal things like kidnapping the prime suspect and straight up putting him in a metal drum.Â
