  1. I don’t care if people think this is DEI, virtue signalling or whatever. This is just a cool move for children. This is progress.

Okay, this is pretty damn cool. I have been trying to learn ASL, but it’s been so hard because my fingers and hands are useless. More people should try to learn a little bit, even if it’s a survival ASL.

  3. I wish Disney wasn’t the giant shitty company that consumes everything but dang it this is cool.

disney does cool stuff like this to prove that they still have some kind of creative conscience deep inside and then turns around and dump 5 billion into live action slop movie number 22345

  5. This makes me want a deaf princess omg please Disney I never ask The Mouse for ANYTHING

  6. Reminder that Disney is on the BDS list, please unsubscribe from Disney+ if you’re still using it

I’m curious about the Bruno one. There are so many people singing all at the same time at the end. Did they animate all of them?

Genuinely curious, for shots where she’s far away like the top down shot, how intelligible is her signing? Did they take that into account?

Definitely done with Ai but still, ultimately a good thing that it exists

I recognize that they wanted to keep the theatrical-ness of it but ASL is visual so them having parts where she’s super far away or her back is turned so you can’t see the actual hand gestures defeats the purpose

Disney can do better. Currently, the only way to see Disney movies with ASL, BSL, or ISL is through a third party chrome extension called SignUp Captions. They do great work and are still translating various stuff with no funding from Disney.

The mouse should take a page from HBO’s playbook and offer sign language captions from the start of the production.

Doubt it would ever happen but the Moana clip is so good I wish they would introduce a deaf Disney Princess and give her a whole entire movie

I really hope this isn’t AI and they should’ve been doing this from the start to be honest.

Came here to see the “yeah but f Disney” comments and was not disappointed

Disney could cure every form of cancer and Reddit would still dunk on them

  15. Guys it’s definitely not AI. Generative AI images can’t be copyrighted so a company like Disney wouldn’t be able to use it unless they were cool with their stuff being public domain, which we know Disney definitely isn’t cool with.

Does anyone know why they can’t just use subtitles? Is it for children that can’t read yet?
