NFL Reveals Mike Vrabel’s Fate Amid Dianna Russini Scandal | E! News
After Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini—both married to other people—were snapped on vacation together, the NFL addressed whether the New England Patriots coach will come under review over his actions. NFL chief spokesperson Brian McCarthy told ESPN that the organization is not reviewing Vrabel’s behavior as part of its personal conduct policy, which requires coaches to avoid “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League.” Though Vrabel—who’s been married to wife Jen Vrabel since 1999—will not be under investigation by the league, Russini has resigned from her post at The Athletic, a subscription-based journalism department of the New York Times, amid the scandal. Dianna Russini’s situation and Mike Vrabel’s are completely different. Russini’s number one job was to at least appear to be objective and that went out the window in the desert. You could argue that Vrabel might’ve given out privileged information about the Patriots to Russini but that hasn’t been verified and would be up to Robert Kraft to decide. But the NFL’s personal-conduct policies I believe only include maybe drug use or violence so Vrabel’s behavior, even if worst-case here, wouldn’t be reviewed by the league. But I do think Russini should be fired but Vrabel should not — she obviously was — at least with what we know. But if the NFL wanted to include “adultery” to the personal-conduct rules they would be opening a can of worms since I’ll bet so many NFL players then would have to be suspended. There wouldn’t be many players left.
