TLDR. Because coachella is run by AEG, the other member of the concert duopoly besides live nation, and AEG is owned by Phillip Anshutz, the Texas oil billionaire, and Anshutz is a big donor to republican causes… well that’s the connection.
Of course, many owners of Live Nation also donate to republican causes (live is a public corporation). So the only alternative is for artists to never perform at all.
