The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has surpassed $755 million globally, making it the top film of 2026.

Box office data shows the Nintendo adaptation has generated over $361 million in the US. Other major markets are Mexico ($49.6 million), the UK ($38 million), and Germany ($30 million).

Globally, Galaxy has surpassed Pegasus 3, the previous top film of 2026 that debuted in China earlier this year. According to Gamespot, 99.8% of Pegasus 3’s revenue came from the Chinese market. The Ryan Gosling-led Project Hail Mary ranks third, earning $575 million.

Overall, the Super Mario animated film franchise has surpassed $2 billion at the global box office, making it the 10th highest-grossing feature film series of all time.

Galaxy opened in cinemas on April 1 and quickly became the year’s highest-grossing US debut.

The film earned $34.5 million in the US on opening day, surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s $31.7 million. It reached $372.6 million worldwide within five days.

The first Super Mario movie broke box office records during its opening weekend in 2023, grossing $204.6 million in the US and $377 million globally.

Nintendo’s next film adaptation is the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, which is set for release on May 7, 2027.

Directed by Wes Ball, the film features British actors Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda. Filming began in November 2025.
