I don’t see conservatives rebelling against Trump, so it is actually pretty conservative.

  2. This is more of the “conservatism can never fail, only be failed” bullshit. Conservatives supported this guy in droves, they said “yep this is what we want” and this is the result of conservatism. They don’t get to disclaim it now that it’s all (predictably) turning to shit.

“Christian” nationalists and conservatives are going to be beating a dead horse to a fine mush in the coming years with their No True Scotsman arguments about Trump…

There’s racism, sexism, classism, religious bigotry, and rules that protect some and bind others. Oh, and people in power playing victim. Sounds like the epitome of American conservatism to me.

They haven’t been conservatives since Trump’s first term. They’re full on white nationalists.

  6. The Trump administration is conservativism’s FINAL FORM.

Its everything conservatism becomes when allowed to gain power for long enough, and neo-liberals like morning Joe are the people whose centrist polotocal and economic stances that lay the anti-progressive foundations that rocket people loke Trump into power again and again throughout history.

I mean, it’s not entirely false.

Conservatism (small-c) means you want to maintain continuity with the political structures and systems already in place. It crosses over with right-wing politics, but it’s not entirely synonymous. So, for example “we should make interracial marriage illegal,” is a right-wing position, but not a conservative one.

So, yes, Trump is a right-wing radical. He has no interest in conserving any political structures and systems that are not currently benefitting him. In this sense, he is not a conservative.

  8. Joe Scarborough loves Trump because only a President that sh*tty can make his opinions look good.

He was speaking about the possible government takeover of Spirit Airlines.

    >“You look at the socialization of possibly Spirit Airlines and all these [companies] — Westinghouse, Intel, U.S. Steel. It’s just simply remarkable that this is coming from a so-called conservative administration,” Scarborough explained. “There is nothing conservative about this administration. There is nothing conservative about this Republican Party. Not if you believe in conservatism the way it’s been defined for well over 200 years.”

  10. Yeah for this to matter someone would have to first give us the full definition of “conservative” and then give factual examples of it being a thing.

I’m not gonna lie, seeing that on Morning Joe actually stung a bit. When I got behind Trump, I was really banking on things being more disciplined, you know, actually focusing on the policy side of things. But lately? It just feels all over the place and totally off message. It’s exhausting. This definitely isn’t what a lot of us were looking for when we signed up.

Of course not, they’re radicals, which is why Trump accuses his opposition of being radicals.

  13. Conservatism is a morally evil ideology, so nah, this is the epitome of conservatism.

If American conservatives rubber stamp far-right politicians in the voting booth, this is what American conservatism is.

  15. I was raised on the belief that conservative values were limited government oversight and power the the American people. I have not seen this from the “conservative” party for some time.

And they are just pretty got damn right BECAUSE it’s for sure that they’re all about low-key dictatorship and absolute total big time cruelty to ALL American people everywhere.

  17. Objective-Lab5179 on

Name the last Republican President who was conservative? Not just social conservative.

  18. You can always count on corporate democrats to defend conservatism. Without the mythical powers of conservatism arbitrarily stopping them, they might actually have to start passing meaningful legislation like universal healthcare.

This the same morning Joe that visited Trump at Mar a Lago two weeks after the election to bend the knee?

Trump is the end result of decades of “conservative” policies- dog whistles and all. Morning Joe is just chirping because he never got over Trump exposing his affair and insulting his partner. Oh and the whole thing where the Trumpies tried to imply Morning Joe killed a girl. He had no problems with Trump’s brand of conservatism when he was helping him into the WH in 2016.

Now if he wants to admit that it’s been a crock all along and Republicans never believed in the stuff they campaign on that’s a different topic.
