Well when I think of TMZ, I envision that iconic 2006 photo of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan in a car.

It wasnt their job its the media but the media is wants access ao they drop the ball.

  3. TMZ is owned by Fox Corporation, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch. I am not sure what is the motive here.

Is this a crafty “divide & conquer” and “controlled opposition” tactic to keep MAGA and Rupert in power? Perhaps Rupert finally wants Donny to leave office because he’s pissed-off about something, so now he’s sending his TMZ mercenaries to further pressure MAGA congressmen and administration to do something about Donny by gathering kompromat on everyone? Maybe both, and/or something else?

We’re in psychotic times, no doubt. We even saw a day when ‘Infowars’ was taken over by ‘The Onion’ with Tim Heidecker as their new face. So maybe this is a good thing. However, the fact that TMZ are in Washington DC doing these “scoops” is yet-another example of how the current 4th Estate is failing the People (purposely or otherwise, because most major media outlets are owned by pro-MAGA bajilionaires).

::EDIT TO ADD:: Well *NO DUH* the motive is about the money. My question is how much leverage Rupert Murdoch is looking to gain over Trump and/or the next guy taking over as POTUS, and whether this may be a sign of a squabble between Rupert and some other oligarch jostling for supreme media influence.

Mind you: Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post and AWS, and he chose to kiss the ring. But Disney chose to bring back Jimmy Kimmel after Trump’s FCC canceled him and saw ‘Streisand Effect’ higher ratings. So there are two main ways to get more money out of this administration: kiss the ring, or hit back with much larger crowd support.

Yeah this is not a good thing the joke has long been that DC is Hollywood for ugly people, but all this will do is magnify the worst people and the attention whoring not enable sober dialogue, but i guess that doesn’t exist.

I would be all for this if it resulted in actual consequences for politicians.

As it stands, all it will do is further cement the ‘politics as trashy entertainment’ nature of our current zeitgeist and I can’t see that being a good thing.

Funny the type of politicians/administration officials they go after with real questions as opposed to softball questions.

  7. If the Paps went after politicians as hard as they do celebrities then we’d get more shit done in this country. And man is that a sad sentence to type.

They’ve been tipped that things are going to happen so they’re not afraid of blowback

Well for starters, TMZ is named after the Thirty Mile Zone centered on Beverly and La Cienega Blvds in LA, which is about 2,300 miles away from DC.

I’m all for this! Please report all the stupid shit they do when they should be “representing” their constituents.

TMZ is just another rabid dog on a leash, Someone wants them to go after certain people now. It’s not because they just want to bring accountability to the government. It’s a garbage organization, just because they happened to make someone you dislike look stupid does not mean they are “one of the good guys”

  12. Harvey Levin is a right-wing gay man in the mold of Peter Thiel. He had no interest in using his powers for good and going after Republicans. Not sure what changed.

  13. They use the pay to play to get results. And let’s be clear… Harvey Leven and gang grift with the political winds… Just like Tucker, Rogan, and Maher.

  14. Honestly, if they switched from gossiping about the Entertainment industry and went completely after the Political one. . .I would root for them,

Maybe so long for the tabloids took so long because they were run buy friends of the administration who ran catch and kill stories. Trump friend Pecker must be out of the way and TMZ must not be under the Fox or Enquirer umbrella. 🤷🏼

  16. I don’t give a flying fuck about celebrity gossip, but I want to support the guy who’s harassing Graham about the bubble wand and asking RFK about his obsession with roadkill.

  17. They only use direct tips from people associated with their stories(they say).Probably just more rats jumping ship, now…

  18. The fact that TMZ is doing better journalism in DC than the actual legacy media outlets is truly stranger than fiction

  19. I was on capital hill this week and I think I saw them. The australian guy was chasing some guy.

Because they aren’t afraid to question assholes. They have nerve, and in this day and age, more journalists should have the same.
