Chris Harris
We already know the potential of spy thriller novels turned TV series – hello Slow Horses – and here it is, the latest adaptation might just steal the throne. The book in question isn’t quite Mick Herron level but rather newsreader Tom Bradby’s bestselling novel, which focuses on MI6 agent Kate Henderson (played by Gemma Arterton), who uncovers a Russian plot involving a senior UK politician. If the politician is indeed a Russian asset as she suspects, what exactly is their motive? Is Secret Service the new Slow Horses? Maybe. Arriving on ITV1 and ITVX on Monday 27th April at 9pm.
This is Not a Murder Mystery
UKTV
What do you get when a group of rising surrealist artists walk into a sprawling estate and get caught up in a puzzling murder plot? This is Not a Murder Mystery. This clever 1930s set whodunnit follows young René Magritte (Pierre Gervais) who’s invited to join a private art exhibition in a grand estate owned by the gaudy Lord James (Aoibhinn McGinnity). After he and other artists enjoy a wild night, Magritte wakes up to find a young woman murdered next to him – and he has no idea what happened. A genius series. Arriving on U&Drama on Wednesday 29th April at 9pm.
Widow’s Bay
Apple
Following a standout performance in Netflix’s The Beast in Me, Matthew Rhys stars in another creepy mystery thriller. This time, he’s Tom Loftis, the mayor of a quaint island town off the coast of New England who believes his small island town’s only issue is deprivation. The truth is, he’s very wrong. The town’s other major problem? It’s cursed – or at least, the locals believe it is, and they might just be right. Arriving on Apple TV on Wednesday 29th April.
Prisoner
Robert Viglasky
It’s a big week for thrillers with Sky released yet another in the form of Prisoner. The six-part series follows Amber (Izuka Hoyle), a young prison transport officer who has the job of escorting Tibor (Tahar Rahim), a trained killer and high-value inmate, to court to testify against his elite crime syndicate. So far, so simple. But when a brutal ambush thwarts their journey, killing everybody on board apart from them, Amber and Tibor must race against the clock to reach their destination on time and, more importantly, alive. Arriving on Sky Atlantic and NOW on Thursday 30th April.
Man on Fire

And it’s not exactly easy when his path to redemption is interrupted by the rather pressing matter of a kidnapped girl. Arriving on Netflix on Thursday 30thApril.
St. Denis Medical
BBC
A huge hit in the US, St. Denis Medical is one of those dramas you just can’t help going back to for a bit more. The series follows overworked doctors and nurses who are trying to retain their sanity at an underfunded Oregon hospital. Unlike a lot of medical shows, there’s plenty of humour thrown in (it’s not too surprising that it’s from the makers of Superstore) and series 2 is about to bring us even more of. Hilarious, emotional and, for many, very relatable. Arriving on BBC iPlayer on Friday 1st May.

Using a gun belonging to her police commissioner daughter Julia (Lisa Marie Potthoff). Now, she’s out and her fresh start involves getting immersed in more criminal investigations – this time, on the right side of the law. Available to watch now on Channel 4.
