Kairi Sane’s unexpected WWE release had led to a wave of support for her from fans and wrestlers on social media.
#WeWantKairi trended on X this past weekend, with fans calling for WWE to reinstate the former Damage CTRL member. Following this, many fans asked Mike Johnson of PWInsider if there is any chance of Sane’s release being “rescinded” or whether she’d appear on tonight’s RAW to finish her ongoing storyline with IYO SKY and Asuka.
Johnson reports that neither of these claims are true, as there is no change to her current WWE status. The wrestling insider also confirmed that Kairi has already returned to Japan, ruling out the possibility of her appearing on tonight’s RAW in Laredo, Texas.
Kairi Sane has since reacted to her release on social media. She thanked her fans for their support and for always being there for her. Sane was in the midst of a long-term storyline with Asuka and IYO, and fans expected the payoff to be her eventually turning on The Empress of Tomorrow. However, her unexpected departure means that there will be no payoff to months of storytelling. Kairi’s post drew heartwarming responses from Asuka, Bayley, Jacob Fatu, and several other wrestlers.
