The actress took part in a “mystery box” challenge alongside Taron Egerton as part of the promotion for their film Apex, where the goal seemed straightforward: guess what was inside a box using only touch.

As she placed her hands inside, Theron cautiously explored, trying to identify the texture of the object. For a moment, she even thought it might be something simple, but that changed when she felt it move, triggering an immediate reaction.
As she tried to figure out what it was, the surprise was finally revealed: it was a snake. Theron quickly pulled away from the box, visibly shaken as she tried to process what had just happened.

All of this comes amid the release of Apex, in which Theron plays Sasha, an expert climber hunted by a killer in the Australian wilderness. The film premiered on April 24, 2026, on Netflix.
