Red carpet events aren’t sticking for Simone Biles.
The legendary gymnast said she’s ready to give up the formalities after seeing her glam tab for a recent red carpet event.
In an April 28 TikTok video, Biles said that her bill for hair, makeup and styling teams for the event was a whopping $22,000.
“My grand total, any guesses? I’ll wait. Probably higher than what you’re thinking. Keep going,” she said before revealing the figure.
“I just need to know if this is normal,” the Olympian said while asking other influencers and athletes to weigh in in the comments.
Simone Biles says she’s ‘staying inside’ after $22K glam bill
While Biles said she understands that “prices these days have gone up,” she said she was “kind of spiraling” over the staggering cost.
“If that’s the new norm, y’all can have it. Y’all will never see me at another event,” she said, adding that she’ll keep herself “right here where it’s free.”
She continued: “I see a lot of y’all at events and there’s no way you guys are paying these prices each and every time because some of y’all be outside for real. But there’s just no way.”
Biles also said she wasn’t sharing the story out of “ill intent,” adding, “I just need to know if this is normal. That’s really it. Because if it is, I’m staying inside.”
Commenters share costs of stylists
In the comments, some content creators gave their two cents.
“I stopped using stylists years ago cuz it’s cheaper to buy a gown I atleast get to keep lol… I would expect to pay around 1k each for hair / makeup,” influencer Madeleine White wrote.
Creator Alysha Newman wrote: “I’ve been paying 6-8K per red carpet events! But that’s with a stylist, hair, makeup, driver and sometimes flights/accommodation.”
Even another fellow Olympian weighed in.
“Girl, I’ve been wondering the same,” Mikaela Shiffrin wrote, to which Biles responded, “texting you asap, we can cry together.”
