Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly remained divided over a possible part-time return to the royal family. A new claim said the Duchess of Sussex wanted to protect their U.S. blueprint, while Harry wanted a united front in Britain. The tension followed their Australia trip and speculation that King Charles could reconsider limited duties. That possible return carried one obstacle. The former “Suits” star allegedly did not want to move back to the U.K., even part-time.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry disagree on potential royal family roles, per source

According to Closer, Prince Harry thought the timing mattered and that King Charles could still make that call regarding royal duties. A source said, “Harry feels he’s very close to getting Charles to agree” to part-time work. However, the same insider said he could not keep “flying back and forth” alone. They added that his vision involved “having his wife by his side.” The report also cited the 2020 Sandringham Summit, where a half-in, half-out plan was rejected.

Meanwhile, Markle was described as moving in another direction. Closer stated her lifestyle brand had been trademarked in Australia. It also cited the couple’s First Look deal with Netflix, signed in August. The insider said, “Meghan is not at all of the same mind.” The source added she had “created a new blueprint” after 2020. Still, the insider claimed that Harry was “not willing to give up on his heritage or his family.” As a result, the couple is said to be “very much at odds.”

For now, the pressure is centered on travel, security, and the Invictus Games in Birmingham in July. The source said Markle was “still in two minds” about returning. They also claimed Harry hoped to bring Archie and Lilibeth for time with Charles. However, any U.K. home remained a sticking point. It also kept the decision tied to family optics and travel planning. The insider said moving back was “certainly not an option for Meghan at any point.” They called it “a massive deal breaker,” leaving Harry’s royal family plan unresolved.
