“It looks like there is a chance that we might not get to talk to each other again…” Sony Pictures has just unveiled the first teaser trailer for the new Resident Evil movie directed by visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger, best known for his two horror mega hits Barbarian and Weapons. This is the latest attempt at re-adapting the video game series and bringing the horrors to the big screen. This look terrifying! Whoa! The story follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive. Starring Austin Abrams (who was also in Weapons), with Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser. Plus tons of mutant creatures and monsters galore. One helluva freaky introduction to this new take on the Umbrella Corporation’s Resident Evil series! This is the kind of dark and frightening footage I enjoy seeing.

“A new era of evil.” From the mind of visionary horror filmmaker Zach Cregger comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos. Resident Evil is directed by genre filmmaker Zach Cregger, director of the movies Miss March, Barbarian, and Weapons just last year. The screenplay is written by Zach Cregger & Shay Hatten. Based on the video game series created by Capcom first debuting in 1996. From Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film, in association with TriStar Pictures. Produced by Robert Kulzer, Zach Cregger, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan, Asad Qizilbash. Sony Pictures will debut Cregger’s Resident Evil movie in theaters starting on September 18th, 2026.
