The Devil Wears Prada is back to glow up New York City afresh, while extending its catwalk-ready touch to Milan and Lake Como for good measure too. The sequel reunites colleagues/rivals/frenemies Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci) and Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) in a fabulously glossy yarn that will refamiliarize us within the sights and sounds of the fashion and publishing worlds.
Not on the list? The returning locations from the first movie, including Miranda’s Upper East Side townhouse (129 East 73rd Street) with its forbidden second floor, and midtown’s McGraw-Hill Building which doubles as Elias-Clarke Publications’ HQ, and Newark Airport, which features along the way but is no one’s idea of a day trip. Instead, grab your Gucci sunnies and take a tour of the new additions to the world of Runway – with some handy Time Out travel tips along the way.

The Runway fashion gala was filmed at the American Museum of Natural History
One of New York’s best family outings is transformed into a camera-ready venue for The Devil Wears Prada 2’s opening Runway Gala. The AMNH also provides Night At The Museum with its exterior shots.

Andy and Miranda clash in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards
Andy discovers that, at Runaway at least, she’s no longer the award-winning journalism hotshot when Miranda turfs her out of her chauffeured car and points her to the 7 train station. The scene was filmed in Manhattan’s newest neighbourhood, Hudson Yards.

Andy and Lily chat about the demise of journalism at Bubby’s in Tribeca
Okay, here’s one returning Devil Wears Prada location we’re happy to revisit. This comfort food classic is where Nate (Adrian Grenier) worked as a cook in the first film but has been reclaimed in the sequel as the spot where Andy, Lily (Tracie Thoms) and co go to commiserate about the state of journalism.

Andy has a date at The Long Island Bar, Brooklyn
And Andy’s love life has taken a turn for the better in the sequel. Gone are Christian and Nate, and fresh to the scene is Aussie architect Peter (Patrick Brammall), who brings more charm and less negging. The pair go on a date to this legendary Brooklyn spot, a scene that was filmed in the summer of 2025.

Sasha Barnes’s estate was filmed at Billy Joel’s old Long Island mansion
The ex-wife of tech billionaire Benji Barnes (Justin Theroux), philanthropist Sasha Barnes, is not struggling for a penny or two either. Played by Lucy Liu, she resides in an opulent waterfront Vermont mansion. The actual location was Billy Joel’s old 26-acre mansion in Oyster Bay, which was on the market when pre-production began.

Miranda’s own Long Island pile was filmed close by at an $8.3 million waterfront estate on Centre Island Road. Long Island’s Woolworth Estate also stood in for the bedrooms during scenes set at Milan’s Palazzo Parigi hotel.

Runway’s fashion show takes place at the Accademia di Brera, Milan
Stepping in for Paris in the first film, Miilan is The Devil Wears Prada 2’s glamorous home from home. Locations used in the city include boutique haven Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where Miranda gets a rare moment alone one night, Palazzo Parigi Hotel & Grand Spa, Villa Arconati, the church courtyard at Santa Maria delle Grazie and Palazzo Clerici. Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper Museum was reconstructed at three-quarters scale on a soundstage.
The Milanese centrepiece, though, is Runway’s fashion show, which was filmed at the Accademia di Brera fine arts school. The scene was originally due to be backdropped by the Duomo, but the Brera offered secrecy away from the paparazzi lenses. Fun fact: the runway was built in five days by a veteran fashion show crew.

A setting in Casino Royale and Attack of the Clones, Lake Como’s absurdly photogenic Villa Balbiano got ready for its close-up again when the Devil Wears Prada 2 team used it as Benji Barnes’ waterside villa. Production designer Jess Gonchor and his team added a brand-new lawn and a statue garden for the shoot.
