Brady Ebert, co-founder and former guitarist of Baltimore rock/hardcore band Turnstile, is now facing a potential life sentence following an upgraded charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Ebert was arrested in late March after allegedly intentionally driving his car into 79-year-old William Yates, father of Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates. The elder Yates was subsequently hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to The Baltimore Banner, a Montgomery County grand jury indicted Ebert yesterday (Thursday, April 30) on the new charge. Previously, Ebert had been facing an attempted second-degree murder rap, among other charges.

Ebert remains in custody at the Montgomery County Correction Facility and is next due in court on May 8 for a scheduling hearing.

William Yates has since been discharged from the hospital and continues to recover at home. Directly prior to Turnstile’s recent performance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, he introduced his son’s band via video message.
