Princess Charlotte has been capturing our hearts with her appearances at Royal events ever since she was a newborn.
The daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales turns 11 today (2nd May), and Royal Family fans can regularly spot the couple’s only daughter and middle child at public engagements alongside her parents and siblings, 12-year-old Prince George and eight-year-old Prince Louis.
Although Charlotte may be among the youngest members of the Royal Family, her sense of style has started to develop as she follows in her mother’s fashionable footsteps. At recent public outings such as Easter, royal watchers have been able to see just how much the young girl resembles her mum, Princess Kate, as well as her dad, Prince William.
But there are two other members of the Royal Family that young Charlotte bears an uncanny resemblance to. Intriguingly, while both these royals share a blood connection with Charlotte, they have no relation to one another – making the remarkable likeness between the two all the more fascinating.
A post shared on Facebook by a royal enthusiast pointed out that Charlotte bears a striking resemblance not only to her late grandmother, Princess Diana, but also to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Childhood photographs of both women were placed alongside a picture of Charlotte, and the likenesses are remarkable, with commenters admitting they simply couldn’t determine which member of the Royal Family she most takes after.
People on the post were split between claiming Charlotte “looks like the Queen” and she “resembles Diana”, drawing comparisons to both her late relatives. Others, however, firmly insisted she is “a beautiful young girl in her own right”.
One person remarked: “Charlotte looks like Charlotte. She is very pretty and has inherited the beauty genes of her mother, Diana, and the Queen, but she will be beautiful because of that as she grows into a beautiful woman. God bless you, Princess Charlotte.”
It’s not just Facebook fans who believe Charlotte is becoming a mirror image of her grandmother – she’s also begun to dress like her. During her appearance at the Easter Matins service in early April, Charlotte wore an outfit that made her look like the spitting image of the late Princess Diana.

A Good Housekeeping article described Charlotte’s ensemble as a camel-coloured A-line coat dress with chocolate suede detailing, designed by Catherine Walker. The look echoed a strikingly similar camel-coloured coat dress Diana had worn in the 80s, created by Arabella Pollen.
Princess Charlotte never had the opportunity to meet her grandmother, as Princess Diana tragically passed away in 1997 when her son – and Charlotte’s father – Prince William was just 15 years old.
However, she did enjoy a special relationship with her great-grandmother, the late Queen, who passed away in 2022 when Charlotte was seven. The Queen once made a touching gesture that would permanently transform their family, introducing a major amendment to Royal protocol that revolutionised the line of succession.
Prior to the birth of William and Kate’s first child, the Queen passed the Succession to the Crown Act, which modernised outdated Royal legislation, guaranteeing their children would have equal entitlement to the throne, regardless of gender.
While Prince George’s status as third, and now second, in line to the throne remained unchanged as a male heir, the Queen’s ruling meant their daughter retained her position and wasn’t pushed down by the arrival of their third child, Prince Louis.
We hope Princess Charlotte has a wonderful 11th birthday!
