Alesha Dixon has pressed the Britain’s Got Talent golden buzzer and sent a Liverpool-based semi-finalist act through to the final. The ITV talent show returned to screens as eight acts performed during its second semi-final, out of five, for the chance to appear at the Royal Variety Performance and win a cash prize.
Tonight (Saturday, May 2) saw the 66-person dance group Sadeck Berrabah & LMA, from Liverpool Media Academy, praised for their slick synchronised act so much so they were sent straight to the final.
Alesha described the group as a “breath of fresh air” before Simon Cowell said the act was “gobsmackingly beautiful” and “stunning”.
He said: “This is not easy. This is the most beautifully made watch.
“This is the best act we may have seen on the live shows so far this series, I think it’s that good.”
Each week one of the judges has control of the golden buzzer and is able to send one act straight to the final – with Alesha chosen for this week.
On Saturday’s show, she said: “In the auditions, remember what I said to you, I said, if I had a golden buzzer I would have given it to you.” She then stood up and sealed the act’s fate, hitting the golden buzzer and sending the group straight to the final.
The remaining acts will need to count on the public’s vote to get them through to the final.

Before the dance group’s performance, YouTuber and BGT judge KSI said an illusion act by one of the semi-finalists was “one of the most incredible things” he has ever seen in his life.
Magician Fabian Fox’s act featured an appearance from the YouTuber’s primary school teacher.
Fox asked the judges to pick a number of letters and numbers before he “time-travelled” by driving a motorcycle on to a cage which was suspended in the air.
Within seconds he vanished and appeared in the crowd before returning on stage to play a video of his “trip”.
The video showed Fox at KSI’s primary school after the first sequence of numbers and letters spelled out its postcode.
He later entered one of the classrooms where he rearranged the second sequence that was written out by the judges and spelled out KSI’s former music teacher’s name, Mrs Batts.
She appeared in the video and was asked to write out a mystery word which was placed in an envelope.
Fox then asked KSI to read out the word he wrote out at the start of the act before revealing that they both had “gamer” written out.
KSI said: “If I had the power to press the golden button, I would.
“That is honestly one of the most incredible, incredible things I’ve ever seen in my life.”
His thoughts were echoed by the rest of the judging panel, who praised Fox for his thoughtful act.
Saturday night’s episode was the second of five semi-finals which saw eight acts perform for the chance to progress to the finals.
