Pierce Brosnan is known for his dashing good looks, but the beloved Irish actor is almost unrecognizable in the new trailer for Giant.

The handsome actor, 72, who has tackled diverse roles in films ranging from Mrs. Doubtfire to James Bond flicks like Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough, plays a boxing coach in Giant, which is executive-produced by none other than Sylvester Stallone. The film is based on the childhood and life of British-Yemeni boxer Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed, PEOPLE reports. But it’s Brosnan who shocks in the trailer, sporting thinning white hair in the role of Hamad’s trainer, Brendan Ingle.

“Based on the remarkable true story of legendary British-Yemeni boxing champion Prince Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed and his relationship with Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, Giant charts Naz’s inspiring rags-to-riches underdog tale from his humble beginnings in Sheffield to becoming champion of the world,” an official synopsis reads.

What’s Brosnan’s Secret to His Legendary Hair?

While Brosnan sports thinning white hair in the movie, he’s known for his lush head of hair in real life. So what’s his secret? He had a delightful answer when asked by Page Six why Irishmen seem to have such good heads of hair.

“It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair,” he explained, saying that his father, “Dear Tom…had good hair. I have no idea. Maybe it’s in the potatoes, or the butter, or the Guinness.”

When told he’s aging like a fine wine, Brosnan said, “I’m doing my best!”

One of Brosnan’s recent roles was opposite Ben Kingsley and Helen Mirren in The Thursday Murder Club, a Netflix murder mystery based on the popular book by Richard Osman. His character is a bit of a departure from some of his most famous roles.

“I’ve done rough-around-the-edges before,” said Brosnan, who knows a thing or two about being slick, as any 007 fan is well aware. “So entrenched in the world of the sophisticated man and Mr. Slick and Mr. Elegance, you know, sometimes you paint yourself into a corner with your own…you get hoisted by your own canard so to speak! It’s paid the rent over the years and given me the great joy of having the career that I’ve got.”
