Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making headlines in recent weeks, adding to calls for their titles to be removed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, however, despite a mutual agreement not to use their royal titles for commercial gain, they still retain them.

Harry and Meghan went on a trip to Australia last month, dubbed by some a “faux-royal” tour. Following his visit Down Under, Harry went to Ukraine, where he sparked backlash after an impassioned speech about the war. Meanwhile, his wife raised eyebrows over the weekend after she posted a new video showing the world her chickens, which featured a brief Princess Lilibet cameo, hours after the King was seen feeding a flock in New York.

The couple have long been accused of clinging on to their royal links, but what do YOU think? Should the King axe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles? Vote in our poll and express your opinion in the comment section below.

It comes as during an interview while on a trip to Ukraine, Harry rejected claims that he is “not a working royal”.

Harry told ITV that he will always be part of the Royal Family and continue public service work.

He claimed that he sees himself as continuing the work he was “born to do,” saying he values humanitarian trips, the people he meets, and the ability to draw attention to issues that fall out of the news cycle when other events dominate.

His comment came after Harry delivered an impassioned speech at the Kyiv Security Forum last Thursday in which he appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to “stop this war” and urged “American leadership” to honour its obligations in the Ukrainian conflict.

Mr Cohen told the Daily Express: “He talks about his service, yet walked away from duty, trashed the institution that gives him relevance in public, and now repurposes its prestige for personal crusades.

“He is a walking liability. When will the Palace or Parliament take the necessary action to cut his wings and prevent further damage?”

The royal commentator added: “You don’t get to ditch royal obligations, keep the titles for profit, and then pose as a global statesman when the mood strikes. It’s a grift that insults the Crown’s discipline and the public’s intelligence.

“Time to end the charade: relinquish the titles or shut up on politics. The halfway house of privilege without responsibility is just untenable.”
