  1. Madonna has arrived and she totally nailed the assignment! In line with the dress code “Fashion Is Art,” Madonna worked with Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello on a striking, ruffled black gown that evokes a painting by British-Mexican surrealist painter Leonora Carrington.

Madonna is wearing a black funeral-esque gown, as she holds a golden horn and a striking ship headpiece, complete with a sheer veil. The star is surrounded by seven women in pastel-colored lingerie, each wearing a sheer blindfold. The women are holding the sheer cape of the dress to form star-points all around the star. This is a carbon copy of a small part of Carrington’s painting The Temptation of Saint Anthony (1945).

The dominant image in Carrington’s painting is a giant three-headed man, clad in a flowing white gown. The painting, however, is packed with references to the mythic story of Saint Anthony, who fought off bodily temptations while traveling through the Egyptian desert (i.e., the pig, the woman cooking, and various other treasures). To the right of the giant but withering portrait of St. Anthony, Carrington paints a woman donning a flowing black dress, surrounded by several women in brightly colored gowns. The woman is even wearing the ship hat and holding the golden horn. (For anyone thinking about teasing Madonna’s outfit, they should consider that she is maybe the most aligned with tonight’s theme, “Fashion Is Art”.

  2. Madonna looks fantastic, as usual.

She is not reading any comments on YouTube. If she happened to hear of the ignorance and anger evident in these comments, she would wish you the best and continue with her fabulous life.

And so shall I. Ta ta, darlings!
