A royal author has revealed the moment he believes the relationship between Prince Harry and Princess Catherine broke down beyond repair. The duo shared a close bond from the moment Catherine began dating Prince William, who she married in 2011. Much like Harry’s relationship with William, 43, his friendship with Catherine, 44, completely broke down after he decided to step down from his role as working royal alongside Meghan Markle in 2020.
The group who were once deemed the “fab four” had fallen apart, and they have not been seen together since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. Speaking on ExtraTV, royal author Christopher Anderson admitted the “real tragedy” of the situation is that Harry and Catherine were once so close, however, their relationship appears to be “irretrievably broken”.
Christopher, who has been covering the Royal Family for 52 years, did a deep dive into the royal rift in his new book, Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen.
Christopher claimed that Catherine was willing to heal their relationship until one year ago, when Harry said, ‘I don’t know how much longer my father has to live,’ shortly after King Charles was diagnosed with cancer.
Christopher said: “Kate thought it was tasteless and thoughtless because when he is fighting cancer, he doesn’t want to hear that kind of talk. There’s no desire on either side, I believe, to repair their relationship.”
He remarked: “I think it’s fascinating that Kate is the first royal to turn her back on Andrew over his relationship with Epstein. Early on in this story, Kate refused to talk to him. She did not want him around her family.
Christopher went on: “The reason is because Kate does not want her husband and then ultimately George inheriting a badly dented crown. She sees the future of the monarchy and she’s really shaping it.
“Here’s the person who is going to save the monarchy, who is going to be not only the wife of a king but the mother of a future monarch and she was not born to this.”
He added that Catherine has been able to “take all of this to another level” and overcome every obstacle that was thrown at her because “she has a husband that loves her and supports her”.
