The only bit of casting that makes sense in this movie.

‘Hey Polyphemus, how’d you like DEM apples’ (Matt Damon, probably)

I hope Zendaya,Lupita and Elliot Page don’t receive too much hate when this film comes out.

      other confirmed roles

      • Samantha Morton as Circe

      • Zendaya as Athena (was basically confirmed before but now its really official)

      • Bill Irwin as Polyphemus the Cyclops

    4. Lupita being cast as the most beautiful woman in the world AND the avenging matriarch Clytemnestra is *incredible* casting and I’d kill to see her pull this off.

…I don’t really understand how a 3 hour movie doing the Odyssey is going to remotely do that story justice.

*Insert desperate plea for a Constaza Casati’s Clytemnestra screen adaptation*

    5. Alright, I’m sure she’ll do great. I’m curious how much role both of them will have, considering they are mostly related to the Trojan War and Agamemnon. But I’m sure she will be great in it.

Love her. And yes, she really is one of the most beautiful women in cinema, if not the most beautiful. Great casting.

I love it. Nolan understands that the anti “woke” crowd is dumb as nails and also spend no money. They are both dumb and cheap. It’s why movies like Barbie (a girl movie omg!) and Black Panther (don’t think the Erika Kirks are going to that) are huge hits. Same way Sinners was a huge hit. Ignore those idiots, be on the right side of history and morality, and make bank.

So now, all of the sudden no one has a skin color issue? And all the other actors that were casted for roles that were previously white, have to go through hell and back, but when it’s Nolan and actor/actress people like, than it doesn’t matter? So hypocritical.

And just to say, I don’t have any problem with any kind of casting, but these praises all of the sudden are ridiculous.

I wonder if Lupita can “Klump” as they say. She’s incredibly talented but it’s tough to pull off multiple roles in the same film. Can’t wait to see what she brings to this film

    10. The rules on race-blind casting just needs to be consistent. That’s all we need.

    11. Agreeable-Tadpole461 on

So interesting that Nolan went with the version of the story where Helen and Clytemnestra are essentially “twins”.

    12. wangyuzhi31 on

Helen was definitely not black. But none of the actors in the movie are greek so…

I thought this was coming out in 2 months! Why were they keeping casting so under wraps?

    14. The internet will be normal about this but hey maybe Nolans name can influence the weirdos

..and I will be avoiding all comment sections about this movie from here on out.

I’m a leftist, and I have to say even many **liberals get fucking annoying about this. There’s already one in this thread.**

These are damn isolated stories and you are free to go find as many super hyper-realistic versions of it on the history channel or documentaries as you friggin want.

How Lupita was looking doing the red carpet for those Black panther movies…I can see war happening over that

    17. MillyMan105 on

According to Homer’s Illad Helen of Troy was described as being “fair skinned (white), blonde and beautiful blue eyes.”

I love Lupita, she’s a beautiful African queen I admire but this is such a miscast. Infact I would argue a lot of the casting in this movie so far is just so off especially Matt Damon as Ulysseus none of the cast look Mediterranean/Greek or Middle Eastern.
