Hannah Einbinder’s fashion take: “As we see a rise of fascism there’s a direct correlation with thinness to make women take up less space.”

I firmly believe they want us to remain physically weak, not just thin because it benefits them. This is why so many women wrongly believe that lifting would turn them into Arnold Schwarzenegger, when all it does is to make you physically more capable and healthier.

I am studying politics and fashion and the intersection between pop culture/media and politics and she is 100% correct!!!

Where can this be seen? Fashion and marketing seems to drive this but that’s been consistent over many decades, where has the fascist regime in the White House made this more prevalent? I’m not saying it’s wrong, I’m just asking how are they doing it? Where can it be observed?

I credit this to working in higher ed, and it’s graduation season, but legit thought she was wearing a graduation cap.

Happens pretty reliably when conservatives come in to power. “To take up less space” feels a little arguable but definitely stronger reinforcement of a particular anglo-centric standard of beauty.

    8. Jean has been through it lol, she didn’t get through designing women just to end up _here_

Keeping us obsessed with how we look makes us forget about our rights being taken away.
