I hope they’ve a better fate than New Jeans and better music and lyrics than KATSEYE. hope these young girls get to achieve their full potential !!

No shade to these women but it is laughable to see labels touting out these “global” girl groups that only acknowledge Black women if they are two shades lighter than a glass of chocolate milk. Like bitch what globe are you on.

Call me old-fashioned but I would like to see girl groups that have some kind of agency and actually formed in an organic way. Like girls that are passionate about music and dance like them, but found each other and found their concept and style and wants to share it.

Not another girl group founded and funded by tasteless white men that just want to make bank on them and will put them in tacky sexy kitten outfits to sell to a 12 year old pre teen girls audience. And make them sing songs about eating dicks for fuck sake. And then discard them when the novelty has worn off and they can’t make money anymore… they’re sucking the talent, energy and youth of those girls and mark my words they will not get anything out of it except a few years of celebrity and a little bit of money (god knows they’re not payed enough considered they work night and day)

Their name shortened is SS…not sure how well that’s going to go if they ever market them in European countries

    5. Rude-Mission-8907 on

I wonder what kind of songs they will give them considering three members are in their early 20s and one a 15 year old girl

I can’t believe they chose Sakura over Ayana. Sakura is 15 while the rest of the girls are adults, just a weird choice.

    7. I’m concerned for the girls in their other global girl group right now so I’ll pass

    8. prettygirlavenue on

I feel so bad for Sakura. She’s 15!!! Can’t speak english AND a newcomer to a group of girls who have been close for years and years. She’ll totally be the outcast (not saying the girls will treat her as such, but she just sticks out and doesn’t belong)

Reddit kept showing me some of the social media posts during the survival show, and good luck to these girls.

I’m not sure how successful this group can be when the core sentiment is that one of them was the wrong choice for the group.

No shade to the fandom or these ladies; hope they have better luck than other girl groups.

    10. 1. the name is dumb
      2. what do you mean that poor girl is 15
and 3. WHAT! ARE THEY WEARINGGGG

I haven’t been keeping up but I heard the other finalist was widely preferred over Sakura😭 I hope the best for them!!

i had more hope for them but it seems like hybe is determined to fuck over all their girl groups from the very beginning. first that katseye documentary and now putting a 15yo into a group of 20yos… why do they do this?

    13. Difficult_Macaron368 on

Lemme just get this straight… Lexy quit dream academy jst to eventually join a girl group from HYBE × Geffen?

K-pop is so weird to me as a hip hop fan. It’s like, in hip hop being seen as an industry plant is the absolute kiss of death. Meanwhile, k-pop is just like “hey everybody, here’s our newest product.”

    15. runninginorbit on

Isn’t Satine famously the name of the star courtesan in Moulin Rouge who gets “purchased” by a creepy Duke?

With a 15-yo in the group that isn’t weird at all…

    16. Low-Caterpillar7903 on

prelude as a group name would prolly sound better than their actual group name imo

    17. AndromedaMixes on

Prelude may have just been a placeholder name but it was infinitely better than the name they chose.

    18. tigerinvasive on

-One of the worst names for a group I’ve ever heard.

-Samara repeatedly liked Pro-Israel, Anti-Chinese and Indian TikTok content which essentially barred her from Katseye, yet they still put her in a group.

    19. DillyDallyHolly on

Is the one on the left the dancer from katseye doc? Also the one next to her looks familiar and was in the katseye show?

    20. Elegant_Ninja_8135 on

Hyyyyyybe, could you all stop with those badly written french name for pop group ?

(SaintE Satine, saint is for men)

Totally sound like mixing religion/innocence concept with Moulin Rouge/sexy concept.

      So like pinky up.

    21. nougatbits-on-crack on

I didn’t watch any of this so just from clips and news on twitter I thought they were called Prelude? Was that a placeholder name or did ppl just call them that because of the name of the show?

    22. SFWChocolate on

I really thought Emily and Lexie escaped all this. After what they went through in Dream Academy, it’s sad to see them come crawling back for more of the same. Even after seeing what happened to Manon, and what they’re making Katseye do, and being friends with Adela who’s having success, they still want to do this? I can’t understand it.

    23. Are these churned-out KPop girl groups actual musicians or are they just fully a product? It’s the most interesting intersection of capitalism and music that I’ve seen since the boy bands of the 90s.

    24. Extension_Vacation_2 on

I feel that ship has almost sailed now. Same recipe’s different folks (and mediocre music).

    25. parthmestry on

I hope the Samara situation is highlighted but guess Hybe has covered it up enough for people to forget.

    26. That logo looks like they want YSL’s lawyers to get in a few billable hours

    27. i think something that makes this even worse that a lot of ppl who didn’t watch the show aren’t aware of is not only is sakura barely 16, but she is from an incredibly rural area of japan and stopped going to school in third grade. so not only is she very young, but she grew up very isolated socially and didn’t have the socialization kids get in school after like age 8-9. she also has no formal training and while she has improved a lot, this is essentially her first introduction to the idol/celebrity lifestyle. it feels like hybe chose her because she is incredibly naive, inexperienced, and easy to mold which is… really gross. she also doesn’t speak much english at all, so she’s 4-5 years younger than all the other members, doesn’t speak their language well, has no experience in the industry, and doesn’t even have typical school age social experiences. i’m really worried for her :/

    28. turtledove93 on

It’s almost impressive how HYBE x Geffen manages to make every group look exactly like they were put together by middle aged men.

Dad short chaps? Come on now.

    29. This whole thing is cooked 😭. HxG is hella incompetent (see Katseye), they’re debuting a literal child with women in their twenties and they’re going to be pushing the limit on what’s appropriate for her, only one of them can really sing, and of course their name sucks. I was probably never going to support a group with Samara in it (she still hasn’t apologized!) but this is for sure the final nail in the coffin.
