During Disney’s presentation today at the TV upfronts, Rosario Dawson announced that Ahsoka Season 2 would not be arriving on Disney Plus until early 2027.
Per Deadline, the actress also introduced a sneak peek at the upcoming season, which featured creator Dave Filoni and members of the cast discussing the making of the new episodes. Hayden Christensen would have also had a strong presence in the footage. Before the video started, Dawson warned that “This season, the battles are bigger and the stakes are higher.” The footage would have corroborated that statement, according to Deadline.
The announcement came just a few days after Filoni himself told Screen Rant on the red carpet for a screening of the two-part finale of Maul: Shadow Lord that he’s deep into editing the new season. He said:
“[I’m] working on it – it’s coming! It’s come a long way. I’m editing all the episodes at once right now… [We’re] just deep in visual effects with team, but [I’m] really proud of everyone, and the work they put in. [There are] lots and lots of things to resolve and figure out, but that’s normal, and I’m excited for people to see it.”

Ash Crossan, the Screen Rant interviewer, then noted that there were rumors that the second season of the show may be the last, to which Dave Filoni had an interesting response:
“Really?! [You] never know! You know, everything works as planned and I know where the story goes, and where it should tie up, and so I’m not really worried about that. But fan speculation is always fun! It’s always fun to hear what people think, you know, but we got a lot going on right in the present, see. Like a Jedi, you must keep your mind in the here and now.”
Indeed, the future of the MandoVerse in general is currently up in the air for fans — and probably for Lucasfilm as well, at least until they see the reception for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Dave Filoni is still supposedly working on an event film that would culminate the storylines set in this era, but we don’t know yet if this will be the next project the cast and crew embark on.
Ahsoka Season 2 is made up of eight episodes, with the majority of the cast from the first season set to return. Our main heroes, Ahsoka and Sabine, were left stranded on Peridea at the end of the first season, along with Shin Hati and Baylan Skoll (played this time by Rory McCann, following up on a role previously portrayed by his late friend Ray Stevenson) – with all parties searching for answers as they journey into exploring the Force. Meanwhile, Ezra Bridger has returned to our regular galaxy to reunite with Hera Syndulla to help prepare the New Republic for the battle ahead. Dave Filoni has described the new season as “all-out war” between Grand Admiral Thrawn and the New Republic forces led by Admiral Ackbar.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
