According to makeup artist Byron London, the black dots in JADE's makeup look during her tiny desk performance, were in reference to traditional Yemeni markings used to confuse the evil eye and ward of bad energy.

Jade's grandfather moved from Yemen to the UK in 1943. After the girl band Little Mix (of which she is a member), went on hiatus she launched a solo career, where she has incorporated subtle Arabic influences into her performances.

My grandmother had the same pattern tattooed on her chin! We’re Indian. She had green eyes and her mom too got it done to ward off evil spirits as my grandmother was considered an uncommon beauty because of her eyes.

    2. As someone who’s ethnically Algerian, I had to double check as I thought the woman was Amazigh. It’s really interesting how such similarities can be found between different cultures

I love how she nearly always has bold makeup looks that represent/mean something.
