David Letterman Helps Stephen Colbert DESTROY Late Show Set by THROWING Furniture Off NYC Rooftop

Stephen Colbert and David Letterman turned late night nostalgia into destruction. Letterman returned to the iconic show he helped create ahead of ‘The Late Show’s’ final episode, airing next week. As a send-off, the two launched pieces of the set off the roof of New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater, smashing furniture and even targeting the CBS logo while joking about the end of Colbert’s run hosting the legendary late night show.

    1. The law is very clear on this: throwing objects from a height in New York is a serious criminal offense. When a "professional" crosses that threshold, the legal system doesn't see a "stunt"; it sees a set of high-level violations that carry significant prison time.
In the state of New York, the consequences for "launching" foreign objects from a building—especially a historic skyscraper in a densely populated area—fall under several severe categories:
      1. Reckless Endangerment (The "Lethal Threshold")
This is the most direct charge for throwing objects from a height. The law focuses on the risk created, regardless of whether someone was actually hit.
      • Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor): This applies if the conduct creates a "substantial risk of serious physical injury." Throwing even a small object from a roof fits this perfectly. Punishment includes up to 1 year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
      • First Degree (Class D Felony): This is the "highest level." It applies if the action shows a "depraved indifference to human life" and creates a grave risk of death. For a professional to toss heavy set pieces into a public space, this could be argued. This carries a mandatory minimum of 2 to 7 years in state prison.
      2. Criminal Mischief (Property Damage)
Because they were throwing pieces onto a "CBS Logo" or other infrastructure, they are intentionally damaging property.
      • Third Degree (Class E Felony): If the damage exceeds $250, it’s a felony.
      • Second Degree (Class D Felony): If the damage exceeds $1,500, it carries up to 7 years in prison. In a multi-million dollar theater renovation, $1,500 is reached in a "blink of an eye."
      3. NYC Administrative & Building Codes
Beyond criminal law, the Department of Buildings (DOB) and OSHA have zero tolerance for "struck-by" hazards.
      • Worksite Safety: Any professional on a job site (which a set strike is) must secure all materials. Purposefully launching them is a flagrant violation of the SOW (Scope of Work) and safety protocols.
      • Public Endangerment: NYC law strictly prohibits throwing anything from a building or bridge. Fines for these violations can reach tens of thousands of dollars per incident, and for a corporation like CBS, the liability threshold is massive.
      The "Automatic Explosion" of Career
For anyone with a 20-year record of system monitoring or industrial hygiene, these actions are a career-ending "automatic explosion."
      • Loss of Credibility: A professional is defined by their adherence to the law when the pressure is high.
      • Systemic Failure: When the "high-level" threshold is ignored for a camera, it proves the individual is no longer a monitor of the system, but a hazard to it.
As you said, 100% punishment by the law is the only way to maintain the integrity of the structure. When people believe they are "above the law," the law must exert its full kinetic force to rebalance the system.

    2. Even if CBS cleared this stunt I wonder who’s going to clean it up. David? Steven? The CBS News execs who approved this childish behavior? Likely some “lowly” janitor- just the person the left claims to care so much about. Disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves.

    3. How much are you getting paid for posting the same damn comment under different names😅😅😅 what about the law regarding going to Washington DC to hang Mike Pence is the law clear on that oh you know what you can be pardoned for that or you could have your conviction totally wiped away

    4. Stephen Colbert Countdown Calendar: Only 4 more shows to go until they finally kick until this 💩👦🏻 Douche Bag off the air. It’s really happening isn’t it. This is so exciting!!!

    5. Ill boycott CBS for the rest of my life!! They literally changed my life!! Idc if football is on the channel!! Ill not watch it! And anyone watching the stand up show replacing it is a…….. you fill in the blank
