In this video, I’m diving into the difference between Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney’s careers after Euphoria, from Rue and Cassie to Dune, Challengers, Anyone But You, Madame Web, Sydney’s public image, the Glen Powell rumours, the American Eagle jeans campaign controversy and the male gaze.

Why is Zendaya taken seriously while Sydney Sweeney is constantly picked apart? How did Zendaya escape the Euphoria image while Sydney became more tied to Cassie than ever? And what does this say about fame, beauty, Hollywood, public image, and the way young actresses are treated?

    1. Sorry. But saying that they were almost equals at the start of Euphoria is forcing too much. By the time Euphoria started, there were 2 Spiderman movies. She had a music career. She was THE name of Euphoria.. Sidney is an OK actress who had plenty of chances to show her talent and manage to have 3 flops in a row and was saved by Amanda Seyfried

    2. I used to like Zendaya and not that i hate her now but now i feel the Zendaya fatigue. Goddamn she s EVERYWHERE. And does have that attitude of "inateignable" when her shitk was to be relatable

    3. It's really sad, but i guess Sydney tried to use how people saw her to gain more fans. But when she switched, she forgot the in huge contrast between what she wants and what she accepted to try to get what she wants.

    4. interesting to see what people watch these days. i'm fine not following any of these things living my normal celebrity free life

    5. Truth! Another awesome video. I really like both actresses for different reasons, I love that zendaya is a great actress and isn’t problematic and Sydney is using her assents to make money while still being a great actress

    6. Let's not forget what happened to Pamela Anderson vs Kim Kardashian home movie. Euphoria's last episode explained the $ to be made acting vs social media. The game's done changed.

    7. 19:27 – Flirting with a co-star who already has a girlfriend is morally wrong…Deliberately playing up the flirty chemistry during the press tour as a PR stunt to help promote and sell the rom-com is morally wrong. You can't convince me that is not considered cheating.

"None of these things are MORALLY wrong"…
      Are you sure?
Just because someone is a "buisness[person]," and is "making money" doesn't make things moral. Throughout this whole video you just described many wrong doings: disturbing the relationship of a couple, selling her body to get money (prostitution), ramping up the vices of others (selling her bath water). I think many can say, that this is morally wrong. Making money doesn't equal morally good, or being a buisness person doesn't equal moral good; if so, Epstine would the most moral person you have ever known (he was a buisness man and made money).

    9. There is no such thing as "power imbalance",these are modern inventions, you can't bemoan the death of the rom com and at the same support the concepts that helped destroy them and frankly men/women relationships in general,as for Zendaya let's not forget that she is favored in Hollywood for the simple fact of being bi-racial if she had done that same jeans ad,I guarantee you that she would not have been attacked like Sydney was, quite the opposite, ain't nothing special about Zendaya, she's also not as hot as Sydney so maybe that's why she can't profit from it,like Sydney does.

    10. 11:06 – I know its her job as an actress to accept sexual roles, but that is exactly why I don't respect her as an actress as much because of the very sexual dark roles she takes. After Challengers came out, I was like "Oh, no what is she gonna do this time?"

    11. You have to give credit to Sydney sweetie! She wanted men to look at her as an object and she's continuing that goal even now.

it was bad enough that she never defended herself when people started calling her the chest girl instead of her legal name but now

she wants to be humiliated like this on purpose? Once you trained the minds of your male audience they won't look at you any different.
Even if you want to be taken seriously,

which she already contradicted herself in past interviews at this point.. 😅

    12. Truth! This was an amazing video, like all of yours i’ve watched. i like how you go deep.

Sydney’s situation saddens me so much i can’t explain. i watched her for the first time on the show “everything sucks!” that got cancelled after one amazing season :c Anyway, one of my favorite parts of the show was Sydney. she was great. her arc was basicallyto go from someone obssessed with appealing to and be liked by men (her boyfriend, specially), to her authentic, more subdued, self who was caring and sweet and actually liked romantically the female protagonist. it was really cute, nice, sweet, and her acting was good.

but then i was seeing her everywhere being the complete opposite. it is sad. she has so much talent, i wish she pivoted now. now she’s a celebrity, people recognize her name and she’s a selling point; she has power. i hope she turns away from the image that is dehumanizing and oversexualizing her. she has so much to give, if only she cared more about her career than appealing to the pervy disgusting men that buy her bath water 🤢 as you said, those people won’t care about her career because they’re too busy with a hand between their legs and eyes on her tits. so, so sad. she also needs to be less messy. it’s untrue that all press is good press.

    13. Marina – love you – never change, but your take here is so off base… zendaya is a nobody who will end up a nothing nobody. Sweeney is playing literal 4d chess

    14. Why the comparison though? It makes no sense.
Sidney Sweeney is a B actress, while Zendaya is an established movie star.
Because Sidney is a white blonde and automatically deserves all the popular films?
The Zendaya hate in the comments displays this mentality quite clearly.

    15. To be faire ,i think that Zendaya didnt have same problem with her looks in a sense that her body type is more model like, lean and tall and also somewhat of a baby face features. But Sydney unfortunately has body type that can easly be put in category of a "dumb blond".Thats way is so hard for her to just move on from that role. These type of girls sadly are put in that category even in a real life(overly sexualized, perceved as less intelligente and easly judged by man and women).

    16. Zendaya hype is curated and pushed to make people like her or think shes beautiful. Sweeney is gorgeous and has played into it. I'd rather support the person who isn't some PR figurehead obviously handled by the industry.

    17. Hey Marina, that I you so much for the content I found you around 2 weeks ago, and I have now binged almost half of your videos. 😂. Very entertaining and really exposing things that I have thought about and never understood. Thank you so much for it. (Also TRUTH)

    18. I think what has really hurt Sydney was how she reacted to things after her A&E ad. She didn't really acknowledge why people were upset by it and in the GQ interview, couldn't even say she was against white supremacy. That with the MAGA parody birthday party for who i think was her mom really hurt her amongst the non- conservative fanbase. A lot of people now think Sydney is a Trump supporter and in the current climate, with the things he's saying and doing, won't support her if they think she supports him. Her saying Scooter forgets this idea that she isn't a good person, so people don't want to support her. And that includes the exact type of fanbase that would have gone out to see Christie.
10 years ago, a lot of this wouldn't have mattered as much, but in today's world, where the rights of women and minorities are getting stripped away, it matters. And she knows this, but chooses to court the conservative male audience. And that's what's hurting her.

    19. Anyone doubting Sydney's talent has only to watch her in Reality. She disappears into the role, and has to carry the entire movie, pretty much by herself. It has one featureless set and she's in every scene – no makeup, modest, plain clothing, and I'm pretty sure a minimizer bra. I became a huge fan after seeing that film. It's a remarkable performance – on I can't see Zendaya pulling off.

    20. its kinda funny and dystopic how sexualising urself (and teens in general, since she is playing as a teen girl), gives you an unofficial title as outperforming everyone else

    21. I thought Sydney was really good in EDEN (2024) and I am a little curious about CHRISTY (2025). Nobody could've saved MADAME WEB (2024). But I never really cared for her, regardless.

    22. (Truth!) it’s because Sydney aswell as most people worship the same god, Money. At the end of the day, the week, the month, and the year you have to pay the tribute and make the sacrifices, because money has no change for morals

    23. I think part of the issue here is that you're looking at this from the perspective of a woman interested primarily in film. Sydney probably isn't. She's more than likely looking at her balance sheet first and foremost and is making sensible financial decisions because of that. Sydney is apparently aware that a career based on beauty is necesarily short so she seems to just be focusing on making herself enough money to be able to float out the rest of her career.
