Here is a roundup from the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the Paper Tiger premiere.

Minimal Mood
Jury member Ruth Negga continued her quietly intellectual Cannes style run wearing a sleek white Celine gown. The dark-tinted sunglasses introduced a cool sense of detachment against the clean sleeveless silhouette, shifting the mood away from bridal minimalism and into something sharper. In a sea of embellished gowns, the simplicity stood out for all the right reasons, although some will say this is too minimal for Cannes.

Too Much Going On
Barbara Palvin wore an Ella Mae Spring 2026 gown which felt weighed down by competing ideas. The draped sleeves, lace trims, layered textures, empire waist, ribbon detail, and flowing panels all fought for attention instead of working together. After her strong start in Miu Miu, I haven’t been enamoured by anything she has worn since.

Black-And-White Drama With Retro Flair
Paz Vega wore a Palomo Spain Resort 2026 gown which, thanks to the oversized black bow, avoided veering into Casper the Friendly Ghost territory. While this is more minimal than we are used to seeing from her, it still delivers enough visual impact to hold its own on the Cannes red carpet, especially next to Ruth’s ultra-stripped-back look. The retro-inspired glasses sharpened the whole look, adding an old-Hollywood edge to the graphic black-and-white palette.
