Considering that he used to carry around “healing” crystals back in the 00’s, I absolutely can believe that he bought into the 2012 apocalyptic conspiracy. Extremely on brand for the man actually.

Good. The economy needed it at the time. I hope he overpaid for everything too and local businesses benefitted

have we not learned our lesson about electing reality TV people?

Holy shit, he didn’t even end up with a bunker or a pile of farm land. He “prepared” for what he believed would be an apocalyptic meteor by buying friends gifts and expensive crystals.

He found a way to be dumber than even the survivalist idiots.

The February 2013 “OK! magazine” doesn’t seem to be available online, but I found an article about it from that year: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/heidi-montag-spencer-pratt-10-million-mayan-apocalypse_n_2589712

      >Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were so convinced that the Mayan Apocalypse was coming that they blew through $10 million before the calendar hit Dec. 21, 2012.
      >
      >In a recent interview with Britain’s OK! Magazine, Pratt revealed he and Montag spent all their cash before doomsday.
      >
      >“We made and spent at least 10 million dollars,” he reportedly told OK!, via the San Francisco Gate. “The thing is, we heard that the planet was going to end in 2012. We thought, we have got to spend this money before the asteroid hits.”
      >
      >”Here’s some advice, definitely do not spend your money thinking asteroids are coming. But the world didn’t end,” Pratt told OK! of the apocalypse cash-purge. “I would give my friends $15,000 for their birthday. Just cash. I would buy people cars. Every valet I met got a couple of hundred pounds tip. I would pay people $200 just to open doors for us.”
      >
      >Montag and Pratt also revealed their doomsday misstep to the Mirror, saying that they purposefully decided to spend their money on things like an armored truck and designer handbags because they thought the end was near.

I mean in theory he wasn’t wrong. The Los Angeles fires in early 2025 essentially burned down over 57,000 acres which is almost 4 times the size of Manhattan, and made it the largest disaster in US history eclipsing Hurricane Katrina. With that said, with that much disaster prep early on, it’s shocking to hear Pratt was unprepared.

God. Please stop giving this douchebag press and articles. By doing that he seems relevant. Did we not learn anything about promoting down on Your luck reality stars for public office?

    8. A few million dollars for the wife’s cosmetic surgery… Will the people of LA put their trust in this guy? Another reality TV show doofus..

    9. He is a reality personality you know, 80% of this stuff that he spews is just to stay in headlines.

He probably sat at the breakfast table and said “hey you know how we were really done with our money and didn’t invest it and we just wasted it on dumb stuff. Why don’t we pretend that’s about 2012?”

    10. We really need better rules for who gets to run for office. At least some proof of higher education and at least some experience in public services. The requirements for entry level jobs are higher than this.

I know republicans are idiots but the fact that they legitimately are getting behind this obvious hack is just sad. Open up the schools
