i agree it’s not much, and there are other artists who have been consistently more outspoken, but i’ll take any public show of solidarity from an A-lister these days

Idk harry is doing more than most so I appreciate the sentiment where I can get it. Maybe it’s the bare minimum but it doesn’t hurt

Has he literally said anything else about Palestine?

He said “correct” – did you want him to then lead the audience on an unplanned protest through the city? What else would have been acceptable to you in this moment?

Honestly surprised that he would publically acknowledge it, even if this is the bare minimum.

I’m a lawyer, and I personally have friends who have been blacklisted and suffered real economic and career consequences as a result of their advocacy or support for Gaza. It was things that were truly really basic like signing a letter….

I get that celebrities may be more in a privileged position, but do not underestimate the career ramifications that could come perhaps….

Why is he getting ragged on for this?? Some people save to go to these shows to forget about things going on in life. To enjoy the music and the artist. Not everything in life needs to be a protest. We need to be happy.

JFC y’all are miserable. He’s a musician performing on a stage. He did the bare minimum he could at that point and even acknowledged and platformed the cause and said “Correct” which in any world would indicate support.

This moral absolutism is why no one takes any leftist causes seriously.

    8. I love how this has become such a joke. There’s a million terrible things equal if not worse than this going on the world and everyone gotta say the thing or else booo

People in the comments acting like they expect Harry Styles to have a personal meeting with Bibi to tell him to stop killing Palestinians.

Not everybody can do that. Maybe the Americans especially in the comments should address their own governments entanglement with Israel.

People are so annoying. Like what the hell was he supposed to say when he’s constantly in the reticles of every slacktivist online waiting to pounce on him or any artist for that matter for not bleeding for the cause of the day.

Daaaang what did Harry do? He’s at least saying something, there’s a lot of mainstream artists who haven’t said bupkis about anything

It’s off the cuff, unplanned, not a staged statement. I’m glad he said something instead of nothing

    12. I appreciate anyone speaking up whenever they have a platform and a chance to do so. Y’all realize he could’ve not responded? What do you want him to do, suddenly produce a Palestinian flag and start waving it around? He can’t win no matter what he does here – it’s never going to be enough for some people.

Ik this is the bare minimum but why everyone mad 😭😭

He could have ignored the fan but he didn’t

This was posted 30 minutes ago and most of the comments are complaning about all the people mad at Harry, of which there aren’t many in this thread. What is happening?

    15. Interesting. The discourse here makes me wonder if both sides are from Harry’s team almost. The most organic replies seam to be the ones that are defending him, and I almost felt compelled to do so until I realized I just don’t care lmao

While yes, I do think he is correct. We really need to stop looking to celebrities as if they are more informed than the average person. They’re likely even more out of touch.

Shocked to read people are coming down on him for this, this is an explicit 180 compared to Sabrina Carpenter, though sure, not comparing apples to oranges

    18. SerBrienneOfSnark on

Hey, I’ll take it. Any public show of solidarity for Palestine is alright in my book.

I’m not a fan of Harry Styles at all, never heard of his music. But I think that was a class act and a great way to make a statement.
