I’m not American and I like both of them but this blaming Susan Sarandon (or Bernie supporters in general) for the situation in the US is absolutely wild to me. Like “do you hear yourself?” wild.

    2. bulkyobject on

I have no time for anyone who blames those who they consider too far left for how right wing the US has become. That’s such a backwards take it blows my mind.

    3. UnchartedExplorer97 on

Yvette fails to see that the ones to blame here for Trump winning besides the MAGAts are the corporate establishment democrats. Very embarrassing on her part tbh.

    4. CosmosMom87 on

Even after HRC won the primary, Susan Sarandon advocated voting against her as the Democratic nominee. That has, ultimately, proven to be very bad for marginalized people. This is an aggressive but not entirely wrong take. Downvote away but ideological purity is not always the answer.

    5. Lazy-Entertainer-459 on

All that heat for the crime of supporting the better candidate in the 2016 election?

    6. Informal-2005 on

Excuse me, FBI Director James Comey is more to blame than anybody. Does no one remember his “October Surprise” when he sent a letter to Congress announcing the reopening of an investigation into Clinton’s private email server? “But her emails!”

I’m also convinced that failing to campaign in states like Wisconsin was another contributing factor to the numbers game of the Electoral College. She never even stepped foot there and was convinced polling numbers were on her side. Boy, was that wrong. But yes, please go on that this was all Susan Sarandon’s fault.

    7. furious_femme_fatale on

I don’t know her but it’s fucking disgusting to blame a woman who’s been on the right side of history every fucking time— becs some neo lib didn’t win. And to so coldly speak of a literal fucking genocide!!

Yeah thus is evil shit and my stomach is twisted

    8. Meh I get where she’s coming from, and I do have a lot of ire for how vocal Sarandon was against Hillary. I don’t blame her for where the world is, but I’m allowed to hold a grudge lol

    9. pink_faerie_kitten on

That’s…not true at all. Hilary won the popular vote. No one stayed home.

PS we should be mad at the archaic electoral college. We need to get rid of it. But it’s enshrined so that’s just a dream.

    10. Plastic-Ad-2469 on

we cannot still be doing “bernie bros elected trump” in the year of 2026

    11. crackerfactorywheel on

It’s 2026, Yvette. Can we please let go of this Bernie bros got Hillary elected narrative? We have bigger, more important fish to fry.

    12. Comfortablefo on

Two things can be true: Susan has said dumb stuff, and this level of blame is completely disproportionate.

    13. NewComplex331 on

What a dumb take. Especially since Hilary did win. The electoral college vote is stupid.

    14. We do not technically live in a 2 party system. That year was eye opening for many people. We cannot vote for who we want, we have to vote against who we do not want. Bernie was the better choice. I do not blame her at all. Trump won once with some cheating. He didnt win at all the second or third time. He flat out rigged the elelction in 2024. Blaming the same team for Republican BS is not the way.

    15. This is why I’ve always disliked Yvette. She was vocal about this at the time and still can’t seem to get past it. She was rude when I briefly met her in person too.

    16. etherealgamer on

      “Horrible woman?” Tf?

What compels someone to judge and/or criticize for speaking out against genocide?

Her comment is going to live forever is that how she wants to speak out?

    17. RockyRidgeRiver on

YNB is wrong on so many levels. She ranks with Logan Paul as Clevelanders we do not recognize.

    18. Admirable_Drive_3193 on

Yvette has had a grudge against her for like a decade and it’s ridiculous. Move on. The Democratic Party does not and did not care about your concerns

    19. celestialtrio on

I hate this rhetoric that the far left are at fault rather than criticize the dems for much they fucked up and lost voters. not only does the dem party need a complete overhaul but this capitalistic hellscape gotta go too

    20. velvetxelvis on

she took time off defending michael jackson to go back to this old chestnut? she’s not the brightest, i’ll just say that.

    21. DramaticEscape3157 on

This is a wild take YNB. Susan Sarandon is on the right side of history about Gaza and Palestine. I don’t see why deserves to suffer.

    22. Madame_Trash_Heap on

I hate this instead of blaming people who actually voted for Trump we’ll blame the people who voted for Hillary still because they previously liked Bernie.

    23. radiantbaby123 on

Dunno I think running a woman who half the country had hated for three decades probably wasn’t the brightest idea.

    24. Wild to me that there are still people who blame Bernie for the 2016 election. Also it seems like she is vastly overestimating how much political sway Susan Sarandon has over the American population.

    25. SuccessfulListen9082 on

I’ll be honest, I’ve had mixed feelings about Yvette ever since she openly defended Michael Jackson (and bashed Wade and James) when the ‘Leaving Neverland’ documentary came out. I guess I wasn’t wrong to be a bit wary of her.

    26. Damn did Susan do something personal to Yvette because this is such an extreme, random, 9-years-too-late take out of left field otherwise

    27. chonkykais16 on

lol no the incompetence and lack of backbone in the Democratic Party caused its own demise. It stands for nothing. While sliding further right to try and entice republican voters away (which will always be unsuccessful because they’ll always find a further right option) while cloaking itself with rainbow capitalism and the veneer of girl boss feminism is just a recipe for disaster. The Republican Party is a cesspool but at least it knows what it stand for- being trite and reactionary.

    28. Let’s be real. Not a single person’s vote was changed bc of Susan Sarandon. People think they aren’t swayed by celebrities, but everyone else is. I don’t think they are. It might help fundraising, but money doesn’t influence elections as much as people think either.

    29. Unable_Mushroom9355 on

Centrists loooove to blame Progressives for their failures, but there are only two options:

      1. The Progressives are a significant enough voting bloc that they can sway an election. If that’s the case, *Democrats need to court their vote.* (Through meaningful concessions, not ineffective guilt trips*.)*
      2. Progressives are a small, insignificant fringe group, who aren’t important enough to warrant capitulation. If that’s the case, *they cannot be responsible for Democrats losing a general election*.

You can’t have it both ways!

    30. likelywitch on

Ynb, I used to like watching her on The Talking Dead with her little notebook, but then she started bullying regular ass Twitter users and it was like … get a grip, dork.

    31. jackalopedad on

Keep re-litigating 2016, it’s very helpful and good! If leftists are powerful enough to swing elections then maybe working with them would be the smart thing to do. idk, last I heard from Hillary she was pretty stoked about the war with Iran that is broadly unpopular across the board, wrecking the world economy and hastening the collapse of the US empire.
