The Glee pilot, and in fact the first 12 episodes, are incredibly strong TV. If you think Glee is some silly music show for teens, you’d be surprised at how much you enjoy that first episode

The pilot was lightening in a bottle— likely because it was originally conceived as a movie.
Glee season 1 was excellent, with season 2 still being a strong contender. Once it decided it needed to be an after-school special, the show’s tone shifted dramatically and it lost me.
I did rewatch it last year, including the seasons I never watched the first time around. Everything past season 3 was harder to watch. The final season was PAINFUL.
But this show did ultimately give us Sue Sylvester, which gave Jane Lynch the attention she very much deserves.

This show is up there with some of the absolute highest highs and the unbelievably lowest lows. The range on how good/bad this show was is truly incredible.
We may never see it’s like again.

And Ryan Murphy is still dining out on it to this day.

If you had daughters/nieces/goddaughters during that time – where they all worshipped Justin Bieber and never listen to anything not released that week – it was a breath of fresh air to see them start listening to and enjoying music that was made 30 years before they were born.

The first couple seasons were so good. And there was nothing like it on tv at the time. Even middle aged former theater kids like me could appreciate it.

Glee Seasons 1 & 2 made Ryan Murphy think he is good and he is now releasing shows like that Kim K one 🤣

“Best TV episodes ever” is an absolutely insane take but okay.
